Title: Links to interviews
Post by: FreakAnimalFinland on September 24, 2022, 09:59:30 AM
I know there is other topics, like the "interviews where?" type of thing for searching magazines for particular artists interviews. It seem that there are quite many artists interviews which you simply do not notice, unless very actively trying to keep up with some sites. If it is generally something someone doesn't follow, easy to miss something.

Linked elsewhere many times, but Safety Propaganda keeps putting out noise content pretty regularly. Just noticed for example LEGLESS interview. And I noticed it simply trying to find link to Lehrer's WORTH interview that some somewhere in soundcloud or something, but fuckin' hell... whatever catch words used for googling, just doesn't come up. Where is it? I recall there was other noise/industrial audio interviews too, so if I can't find it in few minutes, maybe others have missed them too?

Anyways, fairly recent Legless piece is here:
https://safetypropaganda.substack.com/p/safety-propagandist-13-legless

In CB interview published couple days ago, industrial noise and even more so Nicole 12 is discussed. Those who are interested in some details of project(s), can check interview. Those who are interested to observe reactions putting out interview even in context of UG platform can cause in underground culture, will have some fun at social media comment sections. I was little hesitant with the interview thinking it will be too nice and soft. Journalist mentioned nobody will think it is too soft. He might have been right.

As for Safety Propaganda / Adam Lehrer on noise, here's some useful links:

Some reviews:
https://www.adamlehrer.com/blog/2020/10/6/genre-is-obsolete-3-the-return (https://www.adamlehrer.com/blog/2020/10/6/genre-is-obsolete-3-the-return)

and industrial / noise related interviews:

https://soundcloud.com/systemofsystems/immersed-in-death-w-worth (https://soundcloud.com/systemofsystems/immersed-in-death-w-worth)(here it is)

https://safetypropaganda.substack.com/p/safety-propagandist-9-helm  (https://safetypropaganda.substack.com/p/safety-propagandist-9-helm)
https://safetypropaganda.substack.com/p/safety-propagandist-2-andre-coehlo (https://safetypropaganda.substack.com/p/safety-propagandist-2-andre-coehlo)
https://safetypropaganda.substack.com/p/safety-propagandist-11-jukka-siikala (https://safetypropaganda.substack.com/p/safety-propagandist-11-jukka-siikala)

Somehow I feel there's this void of serious online blogs or webzines (call it as you wish) for covering these genres...
Both Bardo Methodology and Lehrer seem to fill the gap. But I still miss some more in depth reviews.

... but I can be missing something...

I came across this site a while ago: http://noiseist.free.fr/INTERVIEWS.html

There is a nice handful of old interviews with a variety of projects (such as Taint, Atrax Morgue, Freak Animal, Con-Dom, etc.)

I got forwarded link to website by forum reader who is not posting himself. Good. Like said many times, I guess there is feeling that everybody knows things, as you get bombarded by social media links etc.. but despite being site with multiple industrial/PE type interviews, I think I had never heard about Disciple Mag?

2020-2021 mostly

MILITARY POSITION
https://disciplinemag.com/interviews/military-position-interview/

KOLLAPS
https://disciplinemag.com/interviews/kollaps-interview/

BASTARD NOISE
https://disciplinemag.com/interviews/bastard-noise-interview/

couple more. First in review section seems to be EN NIHIL and WOLF EYES, but Discipline Mag doesn't seem to be heavily active in posting. But what would be? I assume no webzines out there really actively posting interviews/reviews of noise / power electronics?

(Edit: but well, anyone looking for opportunities to publish content, Disciple mag is also looking for more writers.

Musique Machine is a great site, just read an interesting interview with the Vomir guy on his funeral synth project where he mentions having to adjust to the current climates "downgrading of culture" after being labeled a paedo regarding the doll used in pics - https://www.musiquemachine.com/articles/articles_template.php?id=577

Himukalt interview starts from page 8. Best viewed on computer, bigger screen, as its one of those "online magazine displays" you can browse the digital magazine.

Seems like partly broken website, but interviews work fine! Lots of 20+ year old interviews made for Stigmata magazine, then put online. For those into dark ambient, dark industrial, atmospheric, etc.. type of stuff what seemed to be big in Russia back then, but no idea how it is now?

Thanks for the link, the Institut itw should interest some people here, as it is mostly oriented (at least for the three last issues that are The Struggle Never Ended / Live Like Traitors, Die Like Traitors, don't know about the Epidemics tape) PE, and not really DA or atmospheric ; )

UBOA
https://newnoisemagazine.com/interviews/interview-uboas-xandria-metcalfe-talks-all-about-new-album/

New Noise Magazine, unfortunately not connected to New Noise label, nor noise itself really... Mostly the usual music biz music there, but couple days ago at least some "noise" content. It includes one of the funniest things I have read for long time:

QuoteI dislike how some people have responded to it in their reviews," she admits. "Somebody giving your trauma a number is very insensitive. Great, you gave my trauma a '5' or a '10.' Please don't rate my—or anybody else's—trauma with a number or a star.

Well, posting in twitter his dreams & hopes of "mikko aspa being bodied by covid" seems little bit more "insensitive" than someone rating album 4/5? Well, evil never sleeps, evil never dies, so...

Perhaps it would interesting topic, what is the contemporary trauma noise. New level of sensitivity and personality or perhaps the next level egocentric attention seeking? At least I've been told, there is some sort of new wave of trauma noise, people dealing with "their shit", in quite different ways than it used to be. In era of public self-diagnosis, it is certainly expected.

Jesus Christ, if you're going to put your shit out there for other people to consume then get all diddums about it being reviewed then piss off and get counselling like a normal person. What a wanker.

Yea, it does seem the done thing now for people to take their hang-ups and turn it into "art". In music, literature, stand up comedy, just about anything. People have been doing that forever, of course. But it's these new kids now, they're here, they have a voice, they will not be silenced, they have a right to be seen and recognised wank wank wank...

QuoteGenocide against trans people

And this is how a 'sensitive' ridicules other people's REAL deaths.

I didnt understand what her trauma is. That she is trans and hunted to be killed ? - Seriously, a friendly advice to her, in case she reads : You are not special. All people have problems / issues / difficulties. That's a human, that's life. Stop think it's cause of your 'gender' , stop blaming others, and please stop 'advertise' it. Noone cares, it's you that makes big deal about it.

I think that there is nothing wrong with having some art related hobby and not ever publishing any of the results. But when you are releasing or exposing your art for the public eye, you better have to have some guts to deal with the critisism because there is always gonna be some. Statements like Xanders one are really laughable and extremely selfcentered at their best. Hell, even in counselling your shit is going to be questioned at some level.

Lol at "her"...it's a mentally ill man with gender dysphoria, I don't think we are doing this person any favors by either being or pretending to be empathetic...in the same way you aren't helping a schizo by validating their delusions...why yes bro, I do see that green monster hanging upside down from the ceiling.

Boy what a time to be alive. These motherfuckers are crazier than shithouse rats.
