Title: Synths for harsh noise or not?
Post by: Stipsi on April 22, 2017, 11:58:59 AM
I ve this simple question.
For your own experience synths are useful for
Hn or not?
Or it s better contact mics with effects and some scrap source?

Neglect nothing, exploit everything. In my experience synths are as fucking great for Harsh Noise as anything else.

The last harsh noise sets I've seen live were both played on modular synths. Based on the amazing sound quality of their noise (which  sounded truly beautiful and was totally pedal-free), I'd say synths are the way to go (although experimentations are always the best.) I just don't want to hear any harsh noise made with shitty pedals...

This. All comes down to what you like to make and what sounds you need. Spend thousands on a modular or buy a DOD grunge and a shaker box. Use a laptop with a bunch of plug ins or maybe try all three. As long as you're getting the sounds you like there really is t a "better" option. Just options.
