Title: DEATHPIA IN SUBURBIA
Post by: FreakAnimalFinland on May 04, 2014, 01:48:30 PM
Anyone know this magazine?
I just guess this is the name. Japanese book format magazine. I got at least issue #2, but not sure if also #1 somewhere. Good to revisit this atrocity from 1996. About 260 pages in typical A5 japanese format, features everything about murder, death, violence, abnormalities, amputations, deformed fetuses, freaks, etc. Masami Akita writes about Amputee Love theme (semi-nude amputee pics etc), Tsurisaki with his obscene death-scenes and gore photographs. Lots and lots and lots of pages of all sorts of addity. Handicapped sports. Mutated animals and humans missing legs and hands. Siamese twins. Coverage of all death-hungry music (from Apartment 213 to Vagina Dentata Organ). I couldn't find any information of magazine online and I bought this years ago in Japan.
It has also curious adverts. Like full page CLUB SKULL advertisement, which was CCCC members shop for noise and cultural oddities. Perhaps should take few photos of this. I wonder is there more issues than 2 ? And was this perhaps connected to Ultra Negative? And if the title is just subtitle for theme of magazine and therefore what is the real name of magazine?

Actually it's possible also I ordered this from Timeless sometime in past. Have bought stuff while on Japan trips few times, but also some stuff from Timeless who is good source. Even in Tokyo, it's not so obvious you will find the old weird stuff without knowing where to go and who to ask. No problem giving Timeless double the original cover price for hunting (even used) books of this nature.

Sorry for crappy photo. Can't scan this format book as it doesn't open flat.. There is jap style map/address in bottom corner, opening hours, phone numbers etc etc. Pretty intensive list of stuff. NOISE & GARGOYLES!
I recall there was some talk about this. Back in the day, I sent some letters to Endorphine / Club Skull, but I guess it was too late then and didn't get any proper replies. Out of all labels I contacted in Japan who I sent tape & letter, I think G.R.O.S.S. was only one to be kind enough to send back catalogue.

It seems that four volumes came out between 1996 and 1999 plus a CD-ROM in 2000.

They are for sale on Amazon.jp:
