I thought the photo was like a clay figure with the oversized arm. Never, ever seen anything like that. God sure fuck's up sometimes...

I had never heard of Yamanaka before today.  It seems a little surprising to me he found so many deformed/scarred/ancient models willing to pose so bluntly naked.

I got one book of his work. Deformed, dead animals, old saggy grannies.
It's good subject matter, but flat tonality and the simplicity of shooting everything on white background also makes it work mostly due subject matter.
