Title: ERIC CORDIER recommendations
Post by: FreakAnimalFinland on November 18, 2020, 08:58:09 AM
Ground Fault CD of course is something that is or was widely available among "noise scene". At least long ago.

But this, Eric Cordier ‎– Breizhiselad CD.. very good!

I have had it in my shelves for ages. Been listening to it, but had no recollection that it was as good as it was when returning it within last few days. Long disc, 70+ mins. Ghastly treatment of records, I guess? It sounds as if damaged LP's was used as source, but most likely taken into tape processing and other efx. Often the crackling surface noises on top, and somehow slowed down, randomly truncated fragments of choir / vocal sounds, mixed with walking on forest trails.

Other recommendations?

something of a compilation & while it doesnt reach the heights of breizhiselad, i've been enjoying this for the last few months.

Aside from the GF CD, the only other one I've heard is Osorezan and it's pretty incredible. An almost 15 year journey in (I think) remote Japanese areas.

I think we talked about him a little in the electro-acoustic thread (or one of them).  Houlque has been my favorite so far from him:

Eric Cordier - Houlque 1996 - I have to stop beginning albums like this at 2AM, because I can't walk away from them - also made the pleasant mistake of listening to this on headphones, and some of the sounds hurt my teeth - first track is a powerhouse - final track is a 25-minute organ/casio piece that wouldn't be out of place on a NY minimalist collection - electro-acoustic/music concrete of the finest order - might be my favorite newly-heard album for the second half of this year. Huge sounds on that first track. Astonishing dynamics. Incredible craftsmanship overall.
