This message is written on behalf of Kevin Tomkins and Paul Taylor of Sutcliffe Jugend, by their label Between Silences / Unlabel Records:

To all those who have purchased this bootlegged edition of the 'We Spit On Their Graves' set for £50...

While this work has not been available for many years, you may know that we are currently working on an official reissue of this complete set together with bonus material from this era, to be released on SJ's own Between Silences label, which is run by the folks at Unlabel Records.  This set is being prepared at the moment and will be released soon with all material being sourced from the original high quality masters (they sound amazing), and it will be sold at a very reasonable price.

We understand people are keen to hear and own this set in some form however this entire work belongs to Sutcliffe Jugend and the rights for it belong to us and our labels, and these unofficial bootlegged reissues of this work directly contravene UK copyright laws, particularly as this set will be in print again in the near future.

As a label we take this matter seriously.  We have contacted the seller of these sets direct to ask that they cease creating and distributing this work in any format with immediate effect and that they refund any payments received to date regardless of whether orders have been fulfilled.

We have the complete emailed details of what was offered, together with the seller's postal address and bank details, and will take further action if necessary, as potentially large sums of money are being exchanged for illegal versions of valuable copyrighted work.

We ask that those of you that have sent monies for this bootleg set seek a full refund directly from the seller or through PayPal, or by any other means payment was made.

We would like you all to hear and hopefully own this work, but as it was intended to be heard, rather than from someone else benefiting massively (potentially many hundreds if not thousands of pounds are known to be changing hands here) from selling a cheap poor quality bootlegged version - and we will be making this possible for you very soon.  The set will include numerous extras and will be nicely packaged.

If you would like any further details about the official reissue set or further details of the seller of these bootlegged tapes, please contact us by email at:
unmail (at) unlabel (dot) net

Thank you.

Another official CDr garbage release from Between Silences? On their page they market their releases as CDs but in reality they are CDr's. I'd much rather put my money on bootleg tapes.

Thanks for that positive response to what we do as a hobby, having worked with, helped and released music for in excess of 150 artists.

At no time have we hidden the fact that some of the 200+ releases on Unlabel and sister labels including Between Silences are pressed on CDrs – some of these are very limited editions or very extensive sets and it would be almost impossible to have these pressed as real glass mastered CDs, where the minimum runs are usually 500 or 1000, as it's just not viable.
Our website clearly states exactly what format everything is pressed on and we would not be able to release anything close to the amount of work that we have otherwise, All of our CDr releases are professionally copied and printed, and we never receive complaints about the quality of what we do.

We regularly release vinyl and factory pressed CDs too and at the moment the format for the reissue of the 'We Spit On Their Graves' set has not been decided, as it is dependent on the amount of material that is included, but I can confirm that this will not be released on CDr (CDs, vinyl and other formats are being discussed) and the entire set will be housed in some really nice packaging.

Thanks.

Actually you are right, the format is clearly mentioned in the mail order page. I was just comparing what I saw on the front page with the info that can be found on Discogs. Judging by Discogs, so far all your releases have been in CDr format so I'm glad to hear this upcoming box will be an exception. There's certainly huge demand for this material so reissue, official or not, was/is essential.

The pirate edition will have been done from a genuine love for the work of SJ and the suggestion of thousands of pounds in profit is rather unlikely. blackoperations has been a bit of a cheeky fucker here but is hardly the Morris Levy of extreme electronic music. A bit like the Coil counterfeit LPs, it fills a gap in the market for fanatics - people have been waiting for a full and authorised reissue for a long long time and I wish betweensilences all the best with it.

http://www.discogs.com/Sutcliffe-Jugend-Bloodfucking/release/7150928 was a bootleg cassette I got a copy of from tapetrading back in the early 90s, I think before even the Susan Lawly first reissue - god knows where Phil Todd had got the copy he sent me - apparently the suggested sources on this discogs entry were supplied by me, oh the things I once knew about power electronics and have since forgotten.

Picked up some post-2005 SJ discs from Cold Spring stall at a gig not long ago and really enjoyed it all, 'do your physical pleasures beat my mental pleasures' is a terrific absurd perverse line that pops into the head while waiting at supermarket checkout lines etc.

Curious whether anyone received copies of the unofficial set, as it's been a year... If you don't want to post on this thread, feel free to send a private message here.

Well shit, if this is being reissued I guess I will have to finally buy a cassette player again for the first time in 25 years since it won't be getting a cd-r release.

official rerelease- maybe the upcoming sj gig in London is a good place to ask when official reissue due
as ever, feel credit and cash should go to original artists
copying for friends is one thing mass bootlegging another, unless artistes dead or clearly disinterested in fans interests.
in this realm of 'music' we are always dealing with past releases missed, original issues limited due to funds and contemporary lack of interest.
equally reissues are balanced against current releases, again cash/time issues prevail.
if people have spent and been ripped off for hundreds with this release then massive hard luck

for me, the past is great, but there is so much going on here and now that I can't worry too much about what I missed.
the new drives forward, otherwise there remains a limited, dead cannon of releases to buy/worship.

I remember some months ago Tomkins answered a question in FB regarding this expected reissue saying that the whole transfer / remastering to digital was almost done, after a lot of work, they sounded perfect but HDD crashed and lost all of them, and he is not willing to do it again from the beginning. I am not totally sure if those were his exactly words or what happened, not sure i remember correctly, but the point is that it's very difficult this reissue to happen, at least soon. I was waiting patiently for this ... Sad.

Ooof. Remember kids - always make back ups.

yosef666, I ordered a SJ tape set along with a number of other things last January after receiving a desperate sounding email from him asking if I [still] wanted to buy some items I showed interest in, albeit at a now-reduced rate - foolishly, I took the bait even though the deals sounded too good to be true. Why? Because I've met the guy before in person, bought from him before without issues and generally trusted him up until last year. As of today, still nothing received - not even a partial order, a refund or a recent reply. Don't I feel like an idiot now.
I feel like a sucker too.

Weird, I got one of these sets (which sound pretty good in my humble opinion) and it arrived just a few days later.

Although i did order it through discogs, but it was the same Paypal as mentioned in his initial post.

Very sad to hear this re-release probably won't be happening now. I can imagine if I had mastered 10 hours of material and then lost it all the thought of re-doing everything wouldn't be very nice.

added thoughts, this sucks, this denies local flutters, this results from addictioneer amongst others.

Why order it in the first place? With the risk of being smug but it had bullshit written all over it from the minute it was dreamt up. Not as in scam, necessarily, but for fucks sake..."fan edition" or whatever he called it. Words fail me to even begin to describe how lame it is.

Big hails to SJ for putting their size 12 all over this venture!

Have to agree here. History repeats itself once more.

I've defended Gillham plenty of times for various reasons for years and years, always believing his heart was somewhat in the right place but I remain convinced, as I have for a couple of years now, that it isn't... certainly a talented musician but definitely an irritating cunt that doesn't seem to learn as time goes on. Lost a fair bit to the lad me sen (not any of these "fan editions" though) but have long since lost interest in trying to obtain a refund. Let's just say that someone with his "condition" probably doesn't frighten easily and is quite possibly used to having more intimidating folk knocking on his door than angry PE fans.

Parallels can be drawn here to the circumstances of the Blake Judd/Nachtmysticum saga for those familiar with metal scene internet drama/gossip albeit on a much smaller scale... but on a more general note, it seems there is a wave ("elite" is surely far too strong a word) of folk who seem to get away with this sort of behavior time and time again, Richard Rupenus for example, then those that can't get away with fuck all without being subjected to a full blown witch hunt; but very little in between.

Ah well.

You'd have to have taken a hammer blow to the head not see why people want this set.

I think it was Hospital & Groundfault whom were all set to do this reissue back around the time GF was manufacturing the "Sex Sick" cd's. Eric told me a bunch of unreleased material had been located. After a couple of years of silence, I guessed it would never happen.

Bootlegs & mp3s are the only way people will be able to obtain the most vicious 10 hours of harsh electronics ever recorded (unless you can afford the original set or 10 LP bootleg). No amount of men in black with riot footage will ever come close to WSOTG.

Give me a reissue done by someone who knows their stuff, has the blessing of the artist and doesn't fuck you over and I'll be interested. Until then I can wait. Especially when it's done by a junkie fuck up whose contribution is hanging on the coat tails of others or being an eternal tribute act to them.

Hmmm, would love to see this re-released officially, but meanwhile I understand why people would want to hear it...
Shame the Gilham connection draws a blank. I'm still waiting for some other tapes I paid for months ago (in fact October 2016).

The Japanese vinyl bootleg of SJ is a real boon though - I've had it for years and I'm finally down to listening to the final two albums ;-)

The official rerelease is actually in project, SJ is just thinking about what will be the best format/packaging.

So don't give your money to cocksuckers (who maybe copying mp3 on tapes).
