Title: Oddball spoken words & non-music records
Post by: Neons Fanzine on May 10, 2020, 12:17:35 PM
I'm interested in strange non-music records, so I'm posting because I'm sure a lot of you have great stuff in your collection.
Spoken words, field recordings, news reports, interviews, audio documentaries...
I'm into anything weird. It could be sex, drugs, UFOs, Bigfoot, sport, war, propaganda, strange sounds,  ... Mental health / psychiatric interview, life in prison or true crime would interest me too!

Here are a few examples:

Nice. Love this kind of thing. I started a thread a while back that might contain some crossover, though is not in any way limited to spoken word http://www.special-interests.net/forum/index.php?topic=9498.0

Something I found more recently is this 7". It's just parts from the film ET where ET speaks. Sounds incredible at 33

Over the years I've downloaded spoken word material from a lot of US style Xtian preachers who's rants are of course well known to most people even outside of the US. Ostensibly for sampling purposes. I'm sure it wouldn't take much to look such things up on YouTube.

A few other potentially good ones -

One of the late Brother Theodore's finest rants -

Gary "Inmendham" Mosher at his ranting best, laying down how miserable and shit all Life is -

A Buddhist guided meditation on how to die -

Anonymous and clandestine recording of a dickhead on public transport (something else that's almost it's own genre) -

This chap has quite a few videos of fantastic, sample worthy rants from lesser known European philosophical writers, mostly not in English -

The one and only U.G.Krishnamurti -

It would be great to see the full video of the infamous "Full Force Frank"  that these sections were taken from -

Confessions (could be a bit disturbing for some) -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu17Wuq3nI8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu17Wuq3nI8)

"Is the White Man the Devil?" -

Finally, one of the late G.G.Allin's finest public performances. At a book reading, without a band.

Gregg Turkington from Bon Larvis Band, Zip Code Rapists etc. has a series of records ostensibly released by something called the "Golding Institute". They include such titles as "Sounds Of The San Francisco Adult Bookstores" and " Sounds Of The International Airport Restrooms". They are something between satirical comedy scetches and absurdist avand-garde. Lost of them (part of them at least) are available on Youtube.
