Dunkelheit Produktionen is a label for extreme music, that was found in 2007 arround the location of Aachen (Germany). Since that time more than 100 releases from music genres such as extreme Metal (Death Metal, Black Metal, etc.) to Electronics (Ambient, Noise, Power Electronics, etc.) had been done. Releases had realized in different quantities and all kind of formats, CD-LP,TAPE and DIGITAL. You can find on the label acts from all over the world, from South America (Peru, Colombia, Chile, etc.), over Europe (Germany, The Netherlands, etc.) to far east of Asia (India, Sri Lanka, etc.). We support our acts in different ways as we target to be a platform of expressions and representation for the bands. Distribution is done over our major distribution partners or directly through our onlineshop. The recently released ,,Sacrificial Rites Of Devotion" split with Chaos Cascade revealed a creepier, more mid-paced side of Power Electronics, ,,Sadotantra" offers a more violent & aggressive side of Scatmother- yet dark as always. Sharp in sound as ,,Beyond" of Hijokaidan, but one can also find brutality similar to Massona or Grunt and above all a sound of it's own identity. There is subtle textures, rich in detail. The album will blossom best if you raise the volume until it hurts. ,,Brahma Shakti" is a landmark & explains well what the album is about- ideas. The songs melt various ideas into one & takes less time as many other Power Electronic bands do. It's like an attack with a drill towards your head that will give you more than half an hour of discomfort.

Some albums are catchy, some are bulky, some immediately stick to you, others touch you. "Death Trance", the terrific new opus by RxAxPxE is far off these categories. It contains an aggressive world of sound, composed of menacingly clattering frequencies merged with low, massive tones and their ritualistic dimensions into a rustling, shrill, mangling mix of Terror Noise and Power Electronics. A pulsating, rhythm-based, and occult beginning with woven-in murmured and asphyxiated conjurations rises up, then changes to an unnerving, screaming rag of sound, only to be finalized by a rite of nonterminating deepness, that is accompanied by whispering and tortured screams. This album is blackness incarnate.
Since 2005 RxAxPxE is the epitome of occult, ominous, sepulchral works sprung from a distinctively sinister mind aloof any modern hypes and trends. No attention-whoring, no networking. Only one thing: Glorification of the Dark One through the most disturbing, sick sounds directly originating from the depths of the human soul. Every release is a ritual performed, every track causes unadulterated destruction.

The opening sounds of Scatmother might cut your eardrum like a scalpel, with its insanely sharp tuned Power Electronics, heavier than a gut-punch. "with his second full length "Gnosis", the sardinian (but Berlin based) project Sa Bruxa explores the topic of spiritual evolution - from the degradation of the matter and flesh to a higher and subtle spiritual sublimation. The title comes from the main focus of knowing what is on the opposite side of the matter - which is basically the knowledge of death, achieved through contemplation and spiritual topics, mainly dealing with the easter tradition.
Alternating dark ambient soundscapes, gloomy melodies, field recording and sample manipulation, together with more abrasive death industrial moments, "Gnosis" weaves an esoteric trip through the mortal pain to achieve spiritual evolution, articulated in nine tracks which develop themselves through the over 65 minutes length of the album.
The result is a trip where the borders of outer and inner dimensions fade away, mystic places soaked in magic merges with inner meditative trip through suffering and contemplation, to eventually achieve the liberation through dissolution and the eternal return."

"with his second full length "Gnosis", the sardinian (but Berlin based) project Sa Bruxa explores the topic of spiritual evolution - from the degradation of the matter and flesh to a higher and subtle spiritual sublimation. The title comes from the main focus of knowing what is on the opposite side of the matter - which is basically the knowledge of death, achieved through contemplation and spiritual topics, mainly dealing with the easter tradition.
Alternating dark ambient soundscapes, gloomy melodies, field recording and sample manipulation, together with more abrasive death industrial moments, "Gnosis" weaves an esoteric trip through the mortal pain to achieve spiritual evolution, articulated in nine tracks which develop themselves through the over 65 minutes length of the album.
The result is a trip where the borders of outer and inner dimensions fade away, mystic places soaked in magic merges with inner meditative trip through suffering and contemplation, to eventually achieve the liberation through dissolution and the eternal return."

It was the year of 2008, when a new fanzine arose from the ashes of Summon For Satan: Temple of Adoration. From then on, seven issues were published until 2017. Dunkelheit Produktionen herein presents a compilation of all past issues, around 360 pages dedicated to demo tapes, infamous bands, old cults, dirt, Metal, Satan, Noise and cut & paste. These seven issues include 100 interviews, reviews, articles, short stories & sleazy comic strips. Constituting a true encyclopedia of underground devotion. In addition to that which was previously published as separate issues, the book includes some exclusive material, such as interviews with Trepanation (Nzl), Tomb, Trono Além Morte, American Line Productions, Obrok, Dekonstruktor, Voids Of Vomit, Clamor In Tenebris and Tinieblas (Ven).
Junior (Enslaver), who used to work as a cartoonist for a Panamanian newspaper in the early 90ies, contributed with a comic strip as well. On top of that, there is another disturbing short story by S.R. of Nameless Tomb.
In the future I may return with a new issue. Until then, buy the book and worship the darkest past at the Temple of Adoration!

Prolific Japanese Noiser Yasuyuki Uesugi, who only uses complex modular synthesizers to create his sounds, returns with another monolith of analogue Harsh Noise. "Untitled" presents over 80 minutes of Harsh Noise Wall brutality reminiscent of some of the Giallo inspired Richard Ramirez works. Despite the menacing bleakness of this recording, there is always subtle movement and nuance to be found in the highly layered texture. Brutal but yet intriguing.

It's time to leave the present behind, forget the significance of time and go back into the glorious past that lay in the fog... Back in the early 90's through the ruins, mist and old myths of ancient glorious Hellas, there were two unknown shadows known as "Count Wrathven" and "Prince Locathah", who hold the flame of wisdom from the dark. From the knowledge of darkness their creations took place under the banner of LAMENTATION, which channeled their spell through a chalice that was a musical ritual of dark ambient and dungeon synth. Between 1994 and 1996 LAMENTATION created three rituals that were available on cassette back in those days: "Eine Symphonie Der Nacht" (1994), "Fullmoon Over Faerhaaven" (1995) and "As ShadowKingdom Comes To My Sight" (1996). Those three releases became very known for people who were into the dark realms of dungeon synth, especially in the underground. Now, more than 20 years later, we are proud to present you a evenly matched official re-issue of all cassettes. Limited to 100, black cassette with silver on-body print.

The recent full-length "Disfigured Onanist" takes all the aspects Rotat is loved (and hated) for and cranks them up a notch. Walls of filth rise and fall, ripping feedback squeals over the sounds of metal sheets and power tools and oddly enticing modulation. Blocks of heavy sound manage to be brutish but still subtle at the same time and create atmospheres of unhinged lust and celebration of sonic mayhem, which immediately make you see the hairy, heavy-set screwball in his noise shed clanking on bizarre instruments.

Citalopram Shunyata, a further project by Scatmother mastermind Hagen Verkhaner, unleashes another full-length album entitled "Moist Nobility". Since its first releases back in 2018 (although there had been finished material and focussed experimentation long before that), Citalopram Shunyata has been an insider tip among fans of Harsh Noise of the deep and more European ilk, conjuring up feelings of similarity towards acts like Treriksröset, Sewer Election and Vomir. Creative but always natural and hands-on analogue modulation meets vintage pornography and semi-classy Sleaze.
"Moist Nobility" stays true to the virtues that made the recent releases like the debut full-length "Vanilla Bloodshame" or the various splits with artists like Rotat or Vomir appreciated new entries in the international Noise Landscape, but marks yet another step in evolution for this unique project. There is of course the analogue blast and ripping Feedback that the maniacs have come to appreciate but also even more reliance of detail and finesse in layering the respective elements to form a full experience of analogue noise that finds the perfect sweet spot between filthy murk and nowadays dynamics.
Clearly, Citalopram Shunyata's "Moist Nobility" comes highly recommended to those who appreciate rugged but skilled harsh Sound Art with a sinister but erotically playful undertone. Verkhaner demonstrates that this project is not merely a reproduction of Scatmother but a fresh and well fleshed-out project that can easily survive on its own. Do not miss!

After Womb 11 quickly rose to fame in Ritual Industrial circles and those select few that can fathom true Industrial madness in the old vein, the anonymous mastermind from the rugged badlands of Russia launches another sonic attack: Logos. Referring to the awakened inner divinity of divine intellect, Logos presents raw and analogue Harsh Noise, which utilises solely organic soundsources and renounces the usage of synthesizers and overdubs. This results in a dynamism and character which is often sought in vain in the bland, generic scene of our times.
The sounds themselves are nothing short of bestial and primal waves of chaos that always flow freely and proudly, while still seeming composed. The attentive listener may feel reminded of some of the current heroes of the international noise scene like Yana or Nuori Veri, whose approach and sounds also focus on less modern and slick presentation in favor of hands on organic results, but will also acknowledge the menacing darkness and occult death worship that looms behind the tasty variations and crumbling walls of morbid crackles and oscillating waves, reminiscent of 80ies obscurities. Although these respective aspects are all not new per se, the way Logos mixes and arranges them appears highly innovative and fresh, proving once again that contemporary Industrial Noise is certainly no soulless worship of a more glorious past, but as vibrant and alive as ever.
As opposed to some more juvenile interpretations found in lesser projects and some extreme metal, the genuine Qliphothic tradition of utter blackness forms a truly unholy union with the sound...

Womb11 is rancid and decomposed Nekro Industrial unleashing its debut album on Dunkelheit Produktionen. This man hails from the bleak and desolate wastelands of Russia and in many ways the sounds reflect this hostile environment. Slow and churning dark throbs, clatters and sound waves form a cobweb of deathlust and dark magick.
One thing that is especially striking is the analogue nature of the music. Classic Industrial weaponry like the MS10 live up to their long-lasting legacy and the deep and full waves interact with percussion created with real bones and human remains. There is a feeling of minimalism and trancelike repetition that is mastered skillfully, reminding the listener of absolute classics like Zero Kama, Halo Manash and Korpses Katatonik.
There is no doubt that Womb11 revels in death worship and anything sinister and macabre. The tracks find a very unique space located somewhere between Ritual and Death Industrial while maintaining a lot of character and refreshingly unmodern approaches. as we already announced some weeks ago, we will no longer be concentrating on (extreme) Metal as a genre anymore. Dunkelheit Produktionen was founded in the year 2007 and mostly dealt with extreme Metal, e.g. Black Metal, Death Metal etc. Some time ago, we decided to end this chapter once and for all and focus solely on electronic music and Ritual from now on. The metal scene has undergone severe changes over the years and it must be clearly stated that we as label operators do not intend to criticise or comment on this evolution. Still, we have decided to make a clear cut and move on to new territories. Our message and label philosophy remain the same, the only difference is the new types of music we are now dedicated to.
Virtually all metal releases by Dunkelheit can be found for 1 to 14 € in our webshop (CD, VINYL, TAPE, SHIRTS). As long as stock lasts! It is the last step of the great transformation. Everything that lasts will be given to the flames. We thank you for your trust and hope that many supporters and friends will join us on this journey.

Sa Bruxa is most certainly a name that any true connaisseur of sonic art should have heard by now. Since 2016, Italian artist Guiseppe Novella has been releasing high quality releases dedicated to the dark sonic art of ritual industrial and ancient truths of spiritual achievement. The new full-length ,,Ritual" presents not only another landmark in their discography, but also many new interesting aspects.
First of all, Sa Bruxa's craftsmanship must definitely be acknowledged. ,,Ritual" appears as a complex and nifty arrangement of different styles, blending ritual bells and chants with slow drones and ambient soundwaves, while also including throbs and oscillations usually found in the murky past of Death Industrial. However, ,,Ritual" is by no means an uninspired genre mix, but an intelligent and stringent work of sonic sorcery that truly transcends genre boundaries and creates something new (and arguably better). Throughout the play time of over an hour, the listener constantly gets the impression that something new is waiting just around the corner, building up on past elements and blending the old with the new. A truly marvellous sonic journey.
It is not too far fetched to state that those who are aware of the most ambitious ritual Industrial projects like Shibalba, Phurpa or Halo Manash would instantly recognise certain elements of theirs in the current Sa Bruxa output. Organic sounds of water and air mixed with ritual instruments conjure up a feeling of sincere spirituality and the compositions flow nicely, making ,,Ritual" a tad more consumable than some more obscure projects, but by no means one-sided. A true beast of an album and an absolutely essential buy!

When it comes to Drone, nobody does it better than Haare. Active for decades, Ilkka Vekka started as a secret tip on exquisite labels such as Freak Animal and Terror and quickly rose up to the top ranks of the subgenre, making Haare one of the biggest names in the game. And this is certainly well deserved, as the current full-length "Submagic" once again proves.
As usual, the sounds are carefully crafted and perfectly arranged. Drawn out waves of modulated bliss dominate the tracks, something is always going on and there is a perfect balance between liberating sonic minimalism and sophisticated interplays between spherical nuances that grow from unknown places and melt back into that black pool of droning radiance. Grimoire de Occulte, consisting of Baal and Philosoph, have left their days of Death Metal behind them and cement their Ritual music with their new full-length ,,Sinister Rituals". One lengthy track with a lot of variation and atmosphere that will please even the staunchest of critics.
One of the most convincing traits of Grimoire de Occulte's new release is the physicality of the sounds. Cymbals introduce the listener to the contained ,,Sinister Rituals", mediatative percussion forms a solid narration and analogue synthesizers sputter verses from an inhuman chthonic sphere of transformation. The build-up is impressively crafty and there is always something happening and changing in this long piece, which flows like a solid album. It is no surprise that tibetan instruments and other fashioned from human bone were used alongside the analogue electronics and percussive instruments.
Fans of experimental Noise will also appreciate the highly organic samples and textures that pop between the deep and soothing drones and the overall feel of creepy transgression and ecstasy. One is sometimes reminded of the glorious days of Nekrophile Records or the current cream of the crop such as Halo Manash or Haare. Grimoire de Occulte's ,,Sinister Rituals" is a must-buy and one of the best Ritual Industrial albums of the recent years.

Nobody can deny that Murderous Vision is one of the greats. Active since the late 90ies, Stephen Petrus has created an abundance of highly memorable and well-executed releases under the moniker. Some may have delved deeper into Dark Ambient waters, others deliver full-on Death Industrial with Power Electronics brutality. ,,Mechanical Opus in Six Stages" is his newest landmark and another highly recommended release.
There is a feeling of desolation and underlying brutality that shapes the six tracks presented. Often, the compositions seem a tad restrained and hateful, but always with a lot going on under the surface. Upfront black walls, mechanical patterns and shrill screams evoke a feeling of post-apocalyptic wastelands and total annihilation. As the work progresses, Murderous Vision spices things up with that highly cherished brutality known from previous exploits, making the last third of this amazing album truly liberating and harsh.

Soma is a Harsh Noise outfit from Spain which has been operating in the shadows for quite some time now. After a plethora of releases on labels such as MARBE NEGRE and L.WHITE records, Dunkelheit proudly presents "Me Dais Mucho Asco".
This young and hungry Spaniard has cooked up some truly delicious Harsh Noise for the consenting aficionado. This nice 50 minute assault can be described as a sheer unending storm of Noise blasts consisting of modulated frenzy, thick distortion, rumbling lows and piercing highs. There is always something happening, fleshy sounds and loose loops dissolving into ravishing whirls and tons of tension. Some elements hint towards the past history of Japanese Noise, while the sudden eruption of vocals still makes for the heaviness of classic Power Electronics.

After four years of silence, the Ambient project Lousberg releases another lengthy opus entitled.... LOUSBERG hails from Aachen and creates sonic art in that old vein that is praised so much. And it will come as welcome news to all those fans of deep and droning Ambient that Lousberg is still using the tricks that have made all his past releases perfect examples of the genre.
One of the many strongpoints of .... is its monumental nature. Wavering patterns of sound appear out of a void of darkness, melt into other drones and build walls of oscillation, strong enough to draw any listener in. Lousberg's newest entry runs for over 70 minutes and is an enticing journey into feelings of cosmic nihilism, melancholy but also bittersweet yearning. Titles like ,,Anti-Existence" frankly state that this is by no means superficial fantasy-based material, but a deeply trance inducing meditation of downfall and despair. The recording is heavily inspired by Clark Ashton Smith, an influence that definitely shows.
Still, there is a certain proudness and epic nature to the sounds used in ..... . Especially the title track ,,Planet of the Doomed and Exiled" makes for a strong opener, immediately showing that Lousberg is a true master of his craft who is able to manipulate pleasant analogue tones to make them reach into the deepest depths of human consciousness. Mandatory for fans of old school Ambient!
The Darkest Universe had been recorded in the beginning of 2022. Mastered by Alex Crispin in April 2022. All music by Lousberg. Instruments that were used in the recordings were Casio CTK-591, Yamaha Portatone PSR-E213 YPT-210, Yamaha PSR-4500, Yamaha Piaggero NP12. Additional Voices, Breath, Night Noises, Storms and Downpours. This work is deeply influenced by the writings of C.A. Bella Italia has been a breeding ground for genre-defining Industrial Noise and Power Electronics projects since the beginning of the art form. In many ways, this new full-length continues in the footsteps of previous releases. Heavy synthwork dominates full-sounding and diverse song-structures that convey a feeling of oppression and exaltation felt in a crumbling, dissonant world. It is interesting that Altieri's very distinct style manages to combine the old and the new in ways only few can. There is definitely that trace of synth-driven minimalism Atrax Morgue was praised for, but also a great deal of innovation and modern skill.

Long live the new blood! While others prefer to worship ashes, Dunkelheit presents Spur on to XS, a promising newcomer from Eindhoven (The Netherlands), the secret Noise capitol of our time. And Power Electronics as we know and love (or hate) is shamefully underrepresented nowadays, this artist pays hommage to the genre's legacy by releasing some of the nastiest filth heard in ages.
,,Indulge in Primal Ecstasy" is indeed a strong full-length debut that showcases many of the attributes that contemporary sonic violence is known for. The suave BDSM graphics hint at the malice and dominating perversion that Spur on to XS stands for. Bruised flesh and dark urges that are indeed primal and as feral as it gets.
Soundwise, the low rumbles and tasty metalwork may remind some of Finnish maniacs Contortus or some of the more acquired Green Army Fraction releases, while still focussing on the raw power of Feedback PE. The elements are all somewhat traditional, but the way Spur on to XS mixes and rearranges them seems very fresh and nifty, even to well-trained ears used to Post Industrial ambrosia. Clattering, buried but strong vocals, Corbelli-esque synthesizer work and animalistic screeching - ,,Indulge in Primal Ecstasy" has it all. Get it, before it's too late!

First of all, one simply has to acknowledge the gritty and analogue feel that the tracks offer. Those who may be a bit tired of modern cleanliness in sound will be treated to the beauty of rusty synthesizers and the warmth of blasting noise captured on the most hands on formats available. ,,Bewusstsein" utilises the strengths of the previous release ,,Realitätsverschiebungen" but increases the overall quality even more. Looped feedback oscillates in a meditative fashion until fresh, sparkling walls kick in to form another sonic tapestry. Everything flows remarkably well.
There is still a trace of Ambient hidden in Blue Eyes' work, but the results are too innovative and original to label this a mere blending of styles. ,,Bewusstsein" is definitely something new that promises to please both old school freaks and those who appreciate the new avantguarde. Mandatory!

Hammer of heavy Industrial PE returns! After a truly promising debut, Apex Parasite serves up another offering in form of a smashing full-length titled "Everybody Should Be Punished". Fans of audial torment will love this one.
It is clear that the artist has made significant progress since his first onslaught. The atmosphere is rough and heavy, dark spheres haunt barren wastelands as swirls of feedback and synthlines melt into blackest vitriol. Samples and strong vocals narrate the distorted cacophony that always reeks of spite and dominance.
Although Apex Parasite is clearly old school Industrial Power Electronics, there is a fresh and innovative touch to the material. Some may be reminded of the triumphs of leading German acts as well as some of the pioneers of the CMI roster, whereas others may lay more emphasis on the vile nature that is PE in its truest form. Be that as it may, Apex Parasite is coming straight for you!

No rest for the wicked! Dunkelheit Produktionen continues its campaign of exquisite experimental electronics by presenting the debut album of Polish act SLPWK. Clocking at about roughly 40 minutes, ,,Andere Sonne" offers unique and enticing sounds by this solo project, that has been released a handful of unique releases over the last 10 years.
Describing the material is far from simple, since SLPWK has a very distinct approach to modular synth song structures, but one could probably label it Heavy Industrial with a somewhat musical twist. Tasty, full synthwaves form structures reminiscent of Inquisition's Industrial project and some of the highly acclaimed releases known from German school Angstpop and Industrial. But ,,Andere Sonne" is not mere synthwanking. The masculine and commanding vocals may remind some of those Levas used to present, which gives the material a nice Power Electronics twist that fits the material very well.
Steeped in occult symbolism, SLPWK offers innovation and quality and is indeed one of the most memorable Post Industrial releases of the last years. Fans of older obscurities will appreciate this just as much as those who like their material upfront and more digestible. Get it, while it's hot!

I'm eager to see photographic evidence that the Hands To CDs actually exist. I preordered in January 2024 and finally asked for a refund after over one year, but was told they "already began shipping."

So, what? Whats the reason to discuss matters here? I sent your refund and we already began shipping the CDs, because people urgently waited for that release and I see more interest in that people have the release in their hands because that one really delayed a lot. As for all releases, professional photos for social media will be done when I (!) decide the day, time and mood. In any case, im very very happy that this fantastic material is finally for the first time available on compact disc.
I brought it up here because despite several email requests and plenty of patience, it wasn't until I brought it up here that you sent my refund, and to be honest, I'm skeptical about your claim that they have shipped to customers or even exist. I'll remove these posts if proven otherwise.

Attention lovers of audial art, sophisticated noise and musique concrete! Dunkelheit Produktionen presents two full-length CDs by Hands to in an ambitious campaign to make these amazing compositions available to a wider audience.
Although Hands to and its mastermind Jeph Jerman may not be quite as known within die hard Power Electronics or Harsh Noise circles, the legacy of this unique musician speaks for itself. Having released music under the moniquer of Hands to as well as his own name, this visionary has been an unsung hero of his craft, creating genre-shaping classics and pushing boundaries, extending his sounds into realms unknown. There have even been extensive visual documentations of mastermind Jerman sitting in front of peculiar utensils like bowls filled with metal balls conjuring up tasty and refined sounds like the sonic alchemist he is.
,,Klangfigurenn" is the perfect showcase for the talents of Hands to. Rusty scraping dance over waves of crumbling oscillations as wonderful symphonies are formed out of a seeming nothingness. Although the elements can always be traced to a concrete source (hence: musique concrete), there is a certain level of skill in the arrangement and treatment that presents aspects of dark drones and piercing highs that may resemble the more brutish sides of Harsh Noise. Like some kind of audial storyteller, Jerman mixes the beauty of nature with a Noiseman's handywork to form ,,Klangfiguren" - a true work of art. Get it now!

Harsh Noise heads awake! Finnish duo Savage Gospel, which features the talents of the one and only Ilkka Vekka known from Haare, releases its first full-length onslaught since 2021. "Nothing Makes Sense" clocks at a smooth 33 minutes and is fit to please even those who may be a tad oversaturated with the plethora of releases - but rest assured that Savage Gospel is far above the mediocre status quo! On this recording the trio of I. Vekka, J. Laurila and V. Härkönen show the listener the other dimensions of harsh noise.
Since its first signs of life, the project has worked with prestigious names such as Incapacitants, Cipher Productions, White Centipede Noise, Macronympha and Jakko Vanhala and its seat among Harsh Noise Royalty seems well earned. The three tracks have a distinct feel to them that instantly captures the listener. Waves of mostly feedback-driven Noise ensue and mix with small elements that constantly change and melt into each other. Truly masters at the height of their craft!
Savage Gospel's spirit seems somewhat Japanese, since one immediately imagines two lads shredding in front of a table filled with gear. Still, there is that certain analog throb and heaviness that is distinctly European and unpolished. Be that as it may, "Nothing Makes Sense" is a real treat and should be checked out by any serious aficionado before it's too late!

Presented as a noble double CD edition, ,,Q'Ofja" is the perfect release for those who appreciate Hands to's harsher and noisier side. This roughly 90 minutes of material actually stems from the late 80ies and could be seen as a perfect blend between the finer points of US Noise and the artistic merits of musique concrete. The leading element here is metal junk and there is enough of it to spoil even the greediest aficionado. The opening track ,,X2" proves this without a doubt, as squeaking loops meet unhinged bashing in audial bliss. However, as the journey goes on, Hands To even venture into more experimental territories, presenting symphonies that slightly resemble the more technical Japanese cut-up artists. ,,Q'Ofja" is a killer release and also a landmark monument of Noise history. Mandatory!
