Yes,
First off is the Dead Kennedys.
I draw a blank, who's harsh & brutal from San Francisco?!
No shit, I'd like to know...
Stimbox (since halted activity)
Xome (Relocated to Sacramento area)
Caroliner / Rubber O Cement (Not so "harsh", but classic stuff of course)
Survival Research Labs (Now in Petaluma, CA)
Allegory Chapel Ltd. (Originally Fairfield, CA)
Haters was stationed in SF for many years.
NON operated out of SF for many years as well.
Countless small acts no one mentions anymore, sometimes w/ good reason.
Include the neighboring city of Oakland and the list grows substantially. It's been well over 20 years since any noise type people could afford to live in SF... save for those enjoying rent control of course.
Thanks, I'll check these out. Forgot about survival research labs, they are really good...
Also the only reason I can afford to live within Melbourne is cos my landlord is an old Italian who keeps the rent low, works for him as his tenants don't become needy whining people who cause him to spend money. It works both ways.
It must be the same way with any large city in this world.
SF is a special case with tech explosion. Usually ranked either first or second most expensive in the US, dancing with NYC for that title.
Some massive oversights from the previous list would be the whole 7hz scene: Radiosonde, Death Squad, Randy Yau. All superb quality from a lost golden era.
Crawl Unit are really good, but not mentioned as part of 7hz.
Sounds like the 7hz was a good scene.
Still digging and listening.
Cheers

An absolute master and still playing mind blowing sets from time to time.
But Joe originates in Sacramento and now operates out of Oakland.
