So... which are the good ones.. or is there? I can't even count how many releases I have given a try, and must say that hardly ever they have aged too well. Is it interesting merely due cultural references, or is there some musically good albums?
They're in a small group of artists that have a difficult time creating a solid album, but that also almost always have very good tracks on every album. A real lack of consistency of quality to my ears. Coil is the king of this in my opinion. Maybe try Cruor or the second half of Stirb und werde.
As for me this band somehow created the tracks and mood that almost cannot be distinct in between albums. I remember that Gotos=Kalanda is quite a good one, but perhaps more thematically, not the musically. I liked Venezia, Hallstatt and aforementioned Stirb und Werde, but I think no true gem in their discography.. Most of the albums are good and more or less of equal strength. And I thought their live performance would be more interesting than the guy going back and forth three steps for the whole hour = some ancient dance or something like that, bass player and phonogram.
Cruor is a good one, imho compiled of older (cassette) tracks, most ritual album......but i really like Gotos-Kalanda, varied album (ritual, the blasting Ernting march, harsh sounds, only the 1 metalriff+technobeatbeat track i don't really get)
after that it was a bit hit&miss.....reminding me a lot of Kirlian Camera : you never knew what to expect lol
I liked 'Gotos=Kalanda' in the noisier vein, (and 'Flamme' in the not-noise-at-all vein).
Earlier work ; whatever the tape with the raven sounds is good. He seems like more of an interesting guy/writer than musician.

While on the topic of writing. Are the any news of the AORTA book? Ajna is/was releasing it but I haven't heard anything in ages.
I remember Ajna mentioning the book but I thought it was soemthing that had already been released so, no idea. Allerseelen toured late last year & Ajna was with them (can't remember who the main act was).
Big fan of Gherard's work.
definitely Cruor and Gothos Kalanda to start with, and in recent times the excellent collaboration with Sangre Cavallum and Hallstat.
His latest gigs I have seen were absolutely powerful.
Looking forward for the book.
Yes, the book is planned to be released during the present year, according to Gerhard.
I have couple original zines of his for sale in 2nd hand zines of FA...
They are unused/new, but comes from old stocks of old distributors. I've had those for years in my shop, but no local interest, heh...
I like the old booklets of his more than the music that I've heard so far.
Reagrding his magazines, definitely check Victor Shauberger and Oskorei.
There early tapes are the ones that stand out in my eyes.
powerful work! I wish some one would re-release this, if it hasn't already been done?

Ajna posted info on the upcoming book on his site at www.theajnaoffensive.com
BLUTLEUCHTE by Gerhard Hallstatt. A 336 pp. hardback book combining all issues of Aorta and Ahnstern into one English edition. The book will be printed in 2 PMS colors, will include 16 pp of photos relevant to the texts in the book and will have a tipped in photo on the front cover. The book includes a foreward by Joscelyn Godwin. Winter solstice? Maybe earlier...
I like most of his workes so far i know them. The old tapes are the best ones after all.
The Ajna Offensive has released the book by Allerseelen...
This was compilation of his old zine, I think? Is it "replica", or are the booklets re-typed with computer font etc?
I think most of all the zines were interesting in times of limited information, but probably still remain interesting. I would hope people would still make something like this - not just blogs.
I guess they redid all the zines rather than reproducing them each page:
Blutleuchte compiles all 20 Aorta and 9 Ahnstern tracts into a comprehensive hardback English edition.
The translations have been revised and fine tuned with the help of various editors and the author.
The book is 324 pages in length and printed on soft recycled paper with wine red and chestnut brown text, and in housed in a wine red cloth binding with a duo-tone inset photo and black end papers.
Blutleuchte should be viewed as a meta-historical compendium. The book becomes a romantic vision of Gerhard's own personal take on many topics that have inspired many and grown into popular themes within the industrial, neo-folk, heathen and black metal underworlds.
Gerhard's research, along with magical-mystery tours to various cultic sites and interviews with prime players in the world of art, music and culture, culminate in a passionate narrative drawn from primary documents, heretical and sacred writings, philosophical treatises, psychotropic experimentations, and experiential learning.
The book works through Gerhard's enthusiasms for various persons and movements, religious sites, architectural accomplishments, natural mysteries, celebratory festivals and scientific advancements.
The book officially sees the night of day on December 22nd, in honor of the Winter Solstice.
The retail list price is $40, but we will have a special price ($30 plus postage) offered until the end of the year.

lol
Ask Gerhard, i think he should get some.
In case you are open for cheesy minimal "alpen-techno" i warmly recommend Allerseelen "Hallstatt" CD, which is surley his most consequent album of his latest and rather melodic works. Unlike his other albums, that have a lot of drop outs = really bad taste tracks included, this album is very stringent with 80% hits only. My absolute favorite!
Listen to this: http://youtu.be/TQyB9coh_1k
However, this is my favorite Allerseelen track (Album: "Flamme"):

haha, oh man!
I have a thing with Allerseelen... I have almost all their 7'', if not all, but I don't have any full-lenght albums...
I really enjoy the split with Sangre Cavallum and the compilation "Edelweiss".
Also, the book released by Ajna, is something very interesting! Maybe not new topics for must of us, but a good read. I still have one for sale if someone is still missing it. And as far as I know, he's already writing something new.
I really tried getting into these guys, couldn't do it...some tracks sounded incomplete and some of the 'metal' tracks seemed out of place.
Years has passed since topic was started. Blutleuchte book = good!
Was listening to his "archaische arbeiten" 2xLP. First part of the 2xLP reissues of his works. Originally material from 1989 tapes, and I could say this release instantly became my favorite Allerseelen to date. Label described this as Ancient recordings of archaic chamber music. Very rough and hypnotic shaman music, compareable to best Zero Kama and Orchestra of Skin and Bone. And perhaps band that are compared to, are not really 100% same with sound, but something about the atmosphere makes comparison valid.
It makes me want to check out more parts of these double LP series. For anyone who have been doubtful due dance material or hit & miss nature of full releases, I'd strongly recommend "archaische arbeiten"! Not expensive, not hard to find.
New disc Terra Incognita is undoubtedly the best of the more modern Allerseelen works. I have no idea how Kadmon keeps this fire burning all his life...
