Title: Speculum Fight 'White Elephant' question
Post by: Jaakko V. on March 25, 2010, 08:51:50 AM
I bought the CD re-issue on P-tapes & Transparency 2nd hand from Japan.

The graphic printing on the CD is correct, in accordance with the booklet details, but instead of two noise tracks the music on the CD is 14 tracks of some weird exotic love songs type of stuff?!

What's the deal with this one? Am I missing something..?

listening to the cassette version as i type this. a-side is no exotic music. starts off with shifting organic drone + something that sounds like mangled tape manipulations on top. a good one from romero.

This is how the CD looks:

So - it's clearly the right CD. But the music isn't Speculum Fight... Hoping to find info about this.

Yeh, my copy looks the same. Great disc, hopefully you'll get to hear the real one some day!

Got a reply from the label on this one. What happened is that the pressing plant stamped the wrong master into certain discs - some were White Elephant and some were not. Apparently there were more of the incorrect copies than the proper ones.

It was a mix up at the factory. A few people have mentioned that they ended up with the f**ked up version, but I think most copies are good. Too bad you got one of the missed up ones.

Yeah the case is solved for me now. Transparency did the fair thing and promised to send me the correct CD.
