Title: Propergol
Post by: jesusfaggotchrist on December 20, 2012, 08:08:57 PM
i really like this guy, the ambience, use of movie samples and junk loops and whatnot. anything similar in terms of sound, the noisier the better.

i particularly loved the use of police scanner broadcasts on Renegade. any other projects that utilize this kind of stuff as well.

Land:Fire uses a bit of that kind of radio broadcast/transmission sampling, but they are more on the ambient side.

While on the topic, here's a sneak peak for the new Propergol. I hear that it will be a return to the more noisey sound of his earlier work.

the new Propergol : less noise, more ambient.....generic darkambient + his trademark use of samples. even one Bad Sector-esqe IDM-track lol......he really changed, in a bad way imho.

I just listened to the Tormentor 7" and was blown away, especially by side A (but side B ain't bad either!). Since I don't know anything else by Propergol, what would you recommend that's (somewhat) similar in style? As I've read above, at least some of his stuff has samples. This 7" doesn't; it's harsh electronics, but I'm interested in both styles. For example, how is the Program Vengeance CD (asking cause I could buy it for a good price)?

Un Déchaînement De Violence‎ + Cleanshaven have some dark industrial highlights that quiet a few reach up to.
I like few tracks on the United States CD but then to digital, clean in my opinion.

I saw him play in Germany. I was disappointed.

saw him 3 times,
1 : Nuit&Brouillard evening in Antwerp, imho AMAZING set in full GPWS-mood, not pe, darkambientset but very well structured, hypnotic.
2 : Darmstadt ...HARSH structured industrial/pe. perfect sync with sound & video. violent sounds, violent images. great.
3 : Tesco fest...same tracks & visuals as in Darmstadt mostly but not a set, he just (re)played track after track...no buildup, no climax. was very disappointed :-( ....

I got the Program Vengeance CD and while I like it OK, it's a bit too dark ambientish for me, even if it's harsh at places (although those parts are real good). I think it's a bit too long too and the speech samples became tiring for me after a while. I hoped this album would be in the vein of the Tormentor 7" but sadly, no, so I have to keep looking.
