This UK band is one of my fav no-wave bands w industrial influences from the '80s. Off late they have started releasing some of their old records long sold out - namely on the excellent US label Dark Entries. Their album - Igniting the corpse - is soon up for rerelease on D.E. Highly recommend this one, and all other titles.

Mmmm...Whereas Bourbonese Qualk doesn't sound dated, I'm afraid to say that (to these ears) that Nagamatzu do ...
I checked out one of the reissues and it seemed fifty-fifty. Some sounded really dated but also really varying in style as much as quality...
I like the stuff that sounds like Danse Society.

Damn, you bastard P-K! He!He! I've been looking for that tape and the other early material for some time, but without any luck yet - so the reissues will come in handy. Understand they are remastering them, hope they manage to keep the essence of the early recordings. I can understand that one sees some of Nagamatzu's material as being outdated, not all their song are 100% - but what can one expect from an effort that lasted nearly 10 years. But looking at the genre - if I may use this word - from our point of time, I would say that Nagamatzu is one one the few bands that stands out with a sound and composition structure of their own. IN fact, I regard their discography as being rather consistent towrds own sound and song material. Seems to me they had a clear idea in what direction they wanted to go, but of course w some hit and misses between. Bourbonese Qualk is another example. Their album Return to order from '86 is a gem as well. Listening to BQ I think there are some PE connections - probably not intentionally though. Take for instance the start of the title track mentioned. Get's me thinking about Total's track Terminator. Danse Society has some good stuff as well. Their ep Somewhere is classic, especially the title track. Though not so much no-wave or minimal, but more pop/rockish. Fat bass on track mentioned. Have to check out more Potion Control. Not too familiar about their work.
