I'm in need of advice. Opinions, experiences, traumas on the above mentioned pedals? Are there any better brands out there? I'll be using it for live vocals and I need something better than the cheap GLX noise gate I bought last year.
Just don't make a lot of noise. Duh.
I thought you were allowed to make noise, now Thatcher has died?
One thing I have noticed, is that sometimes loudness on stage is enough to keep gate open all the time. This was my impression that cheap gates can be either opening too "unnaturally", but not sure how much more advanced better ones are - if you are on stage where louder-than-your-vocals noise blasts straight to microphone all the time...
never tried a pedal gate but the cheap-ass rack I have( alesis 3630) will do whatever you ask it to do. But you have to know how to adjust the knobs.
I do understand that nobody wants more devices live that need outlets.
3630 has a(or two I guess) great noisegate, funny how these units a despised by the rock public but worshiped by anybody from Daft Punk to PE artists apparently
Another recommendation from here.
I was hoping to not include another big unit to my set up but ultimately I must choose what is best for the job. Thank you both for your recommendations.
the Alesis unit is the standard 19" but extremely small for a rack unit, it weights next to nothing
