Does anyone have any info on this? It has appeared on a few distro's in the last couple of days and is listed as a live CD from 2009 but with no label listed. I am assuming this is perhaps a bootleg? Anyone have any more info including whether the sound is any good and worthwhile checking out? The live album 'Breaking Down Nihil' from a few years back was a very good album - more so than expected - so interested in the quality of this new one.
Strangely Payback is the same Artwork and Tesco doesn't announced it. As far as i remember Tesco makes all CMI Stuff since long Time
I haven't heard this new album and I'll remain sceptical until I've had more evidence of its merits but rumour has it that Roger after many years of embarrassing himself is back on form. If that is true then it's good news indeed.
It is up on the olde bandcamp if you want to preview it. Anyway I am excited or interested in a new one from him

The new album and live show are both top notch!
At the risk of hijacking this thread further, I'm on my first listen to the new album and have to say it sounds like Karmanik is well and truly back on form. There's a certain new-ness to the sound but definitely the heaviness of albums "Innerwar" with the sleazy darkness of "Necros Evangelicum". It begins with very PE sounding hardness but gets slower and darker as the album progresses.
In short, welcome back Death.
I also spent today listening to the new album and had a very similar impression. Good return to form but not necessarily outdoing the aforementioned classics. Out of interest I received my first professional job offer while Innerwar was blasting in the background. At the time I did not feel I could ask my new employer to hold while I turned the 'music' down!
But back on topic still no official info had surfaced on Payback. What gives?!

For me, his benchmark. This is nice to hear.
I had a brief listen to the first two tracks yesterday which is of course not enough to base aa decision on but only from that it was evident that there is new found energy and focus. I have for a long time written off BDN as just another one of several legends with a lost mojo but it seems he has regained it. That's nice for a change. This really is very good news. I will be stocking it in the distro.
Richard, not telling you what to do but there seems to be a need to discuss the return of BDN. Why not make this thread about the new album as well as this obscure live CD?

Well that makes complete sense seeing as where the thread has gone - so changed above to be more a catch all. I am quite keen to see if the new album comes out on vinyl at some point.
Anyone here see BDN on the recent US tour? Any impressions of the show, compared the the joke antics and dress ups of early 00's performances?
'Payback' looks like a bootleg, all right. Really looking forward to see BDN et al in London next month, now - having heard some of the new one.

From what i've heard the new album will also be available in a European edition later on, also on vinyl. Most likely released by Familjegraven and distributed through Tesco Germany.

it is indeed a bootleg with the purpose to "pay back" the money mr. karmanik owes to the label owner (labelled as "none" ... however, a german label)
Brighter Death Now - With Promises Of Death
Tesco-USA is selling a 4-panel digipak edition and
Tesco-Germany a EU edition in 4-panel ecopak.
Looking forward to hear the album.

Thanks for the confirmation Stefan. I had thought that could have been the case due to to the conspiratorial title 'payback' but didn't want to start a rumour without reason.
So this is 100% now confirmed as a bootleg by Roger himself (via FB). But with with this somewhat of an endorsement statement, is it now elevated to 'semi-official bootleg'?!
"This bootleg was recently released by the organiser behind Maschinenfest, it's live from the 2009 festival. Yes there was some issues... and I was an asshole, as so many times during that time of my life. I don't blame him. I just got the cd yesterday and I suggest you to get it! Really nice artwork and the sound recording is excellent. On this occasion I had the privilege to have Bauke van d W and Lina B Doll on stage, and you can hear we did a really good job - well worth the money, both for the show and CD. however this doesnt suggest others to try bootlegging anything from BDN. You will be nailed". - Roger Karmanik

I saw them in Montreal, and although I didn't get a chance to see the last tour of North America in 2004, it was a very solid performance I thought. Most of the folks I talked to who saw other shows on the tour agreed.

"End of the 80's" is the final track of new BDN album, which I note has a spoken sample which I am assuming is in Swedish. Anyone care to give a synopsis of what is being said?
Thanks in advance.
I haven't listened to it that closely but the word sex appears and it reminded me of a childrens sex education program from the early 90's or late 80's presented by now dead actor Ernst Günther. It caused a bit of upset at the time. It could be from there or something else. I'd love to find clips of that kids program because it was rather graphic from what I remember.
Here are my impressions of the new album, which has been getting heavy rotation around here:
