Title: Fistfuck
Post by: Desperate on August 09, 2015, 06:18:35 PM
I've been reading England's Hidden Reverse lately, and it mentioned this duo in the early post-industrial scene in London. They got my interest due to their fetish theme and alleged sound (described by critics at the time as a "female Whitehouse"). I never realized Diana Rogerson was involved with music until reading it. Is anyone familiar with the project, or have any thoughts about the sound? The book made them seem more like a performance art group, but it also mentioned the abrasive sound accompanying the performance. Yay or nay?

It's ok, but perhaps doesn't necessary carry legacy purely on musical merits.
There was (bootleg?) LP released some years ago, and mostly made me think that some material could remain on tape or relatively cheap CD and not collectible vinyl release.

Sound itself appeals to fans of 80's rough lo-fi nasty material, yet Whitehouse reference is hardly anywhere that close. It's like calling any remotely "PE" / "industrial noise" sound like Whitehouse.

Diana Rogerson's Chrystal Belle Scrodd albums are pretty great.  The A Bad Diana album is also quite good.  She brings out a good side of Stapleton.  I know I look more forward to their collaborative work than I do his work without her.

Thanks for the information. Is there any video footage from that time? I just keep seeing the same 2-3 photos from the performances, but they do look really good. Nice rubber action!

I'll check out those Chrystal Belle Scrodd albums, too. I only have a few NWW cds in the collection, but I've enjoyed (mostly) what I've heard.

A copy of their archival LP release is available from the quite new official NWW website for an exorbitant price - http://www.nursewithwound.co.uk/shop/c7wbxan4kxnfyut7bd57hhuqzpa5ts

Agree that the Chrystal Belle Scrodd releases are superb - the Belle De Jour disc available there for quite cheap is highly recommended and actually much better than many of the releases which use the Nurse With Wound name.
