Title: Eurorack diluting PE/Industrial
Post by: calaverasgrande on June 02, 2016, 07:57:41 PM
It seems that the growing popularity of modular is a good thing in a way. I can often find used modular gear on sale for good prices.
At the same time, it is kind of starting to get that familiar bad taste in my mouth of early phase co-opting.

I've seen gallery openings, store openings and other mundane events which feature 'a modular performance'.  No act named, just gee-whiz lookit that maw-juler sin-thee-sye-zer go beep boop!
It seems that setting up a couple of oscs beating against each other at an irregular interval is no longer the room-clearer it once was.

Oh yeah and beardy types.

yeah, not sure if Dieter Doepfer has tried suing Behringer over that.
I'm actually a huge fan of Eurorack modular. There is something to be said for a flourishing scene with innovative manufacturers.
OTOH, I've only ever wanted a few oscs, and a lot of utilities.  A lot of the newer modules seem to cater to people who dont want to get their hands dirty learning how to patch.
