as I recall, the woman on the cover of index was a west London prostitute murdered by a never caught serial killer in early 1960's, jack the stripper.the main suspect killed himself and no more crimes were attributed.

original paperback by a tabloid journalist, I think, and indeed hard to get.
jack or jumps, a more recent book on the murders should be easier, but in my drunken state in the pub,
cannot remember the author's name, only that I presented the book as a fanboy to slogan ages ago at con-dom birthday bash
