Only got maybe 15 tapes out of these series. Just received some directly from Ron. Postage to Europe was horrible. But so far, I can say it was worth it, they are great. Just listened to FFH and Skin Graft and now for the second time, Eugenics Council.
I think it's great idea overall.
So what's your favourite Recycled Tapes and how do you think about the concept, if at all?
I like the Kazumoto Endo one!
gerogerigegege is the best in the series.
got a Runzelstirn & Gurgelstock thing which is recycled on such a crapp tape that it's quite a chore to listen to, argh... Kazumoto Endo tape is great, Haare tape is, well, "classic" haare mud. don't have more than those...

Isnt it just some Cambodian pop music?
Somehow, the Recycled VOMIR tape is my favourite VOMIR release. I also love the ones from Brume & L'Autopsie A Révélé Que La Mort Était Due A L'Autopsie.
To do a bit of self-promotion, I'm still really proud of the Recycled Trou tape.
Some other nice tapes I own : Goat93, Rat with Wings, Baal, Haare, Doc Wör Mirran & Destroyed Music.
Not a huge fan of Con-Dom & Content Nullity. They did way better stuff.
That reminds me I need to order a new batch one day, I'll keep an eye on that discussion !

Okay, to make this more than another shitpost, I have some recycled tapes. Saddly, I dont own as many as I would want to because money is a reality of life. The few I have I enjoy but then they cut out and you start hearing sounds of cars and someone walking around a room. I am not entirely sure if this is part of the tape or if ron just recorded something at the end because the tapes were too long compared to the material that was sent in by the artists. I am leaning on that theory but I would like to hear some kind of confirmation on this, hehe.
I have probably close to 50 of these suckers.
Favorites are:
De Fabriek
Death Factory
Nmperign
Aaron Dilloway
Andrew Kirschner
Zone Nord
Headboggle
Xper.Xr
Clang Quartet
R & G
Sudden Infant (although my tape is too short)
Smell & Quim
Con-Dom
Burning Star Core
Haare
Buddhist on Fire (recommended)
Developer
Reynols
Relay for Death
Sterile Garden
Mike Shiflet
Wolf Eyes
Wilt (rare harsh noise from WILT)
Ataraxic Ataxia
I played recycled tapes for 6 hours on the radio before:
http://posterityplaylists.blogspot.com/2014/02/rrrecycled-5-hours.html
Was just looking through my shelves and noticed that I had an exaggerated imagination about the number of my tapes. Not 15, just 10. Seems I'm getting old ;)
Masonna
Hal Hutchinson
The Rita
Eugenics Council
FFH
Skin Graft
Con-Dom
Grunt
Prurient
Taint
I've only got a handful, but they are all excellent :
Neil Campbell.
Duncan Harrison.
Smell & Quim.
Textured Bird Transmission.
Should get some more really.
Is anyone familiar with Hyster Tapes of Helsinki? Great sounds on recycled tapes.

Bad sound, but never heard anything else than the noise on the tape, nothing related to the previous content.

varropas (?lo-fi "jam band?) + keijo (?broken blues?) stuff is recommended
now back to topic!
The grunt tape rules
I love the concept too, really cool to own, the Merzbow, Taint, Grunt and Kazumoto Endo ones are killer.

.
For me, the noise stops but the tape continues. I figured it might be that when using recycled tapes, you cant dictate the tapes lenght and its just something to fill out the end of the tape if the tape is longer than the noise.

You're right.
I've got a few in distro for european costumers.
Anyone have a link to the FFH one?

If you order from RRR site I think he does some sort of deal on them, can't remember. But Ron runs a class Mailorder
Bumping this thread for more recent recommendations. It makes me so happy that RRRon keeps these (and Pure cds) in print. I want to order a big batch of both.
Realised a little while back that the Cementimental recycled tape is no longer on the RRR site. Quick bit of detective work on archive.org and it seems like it vanished from the catalog back in 2013!? I emailed Ron to ask what's up but no reply. I can only assume it was somehow related to the great Troniks forum meltdown but I can't remember him saying anything about it at the time and I genuinely don't remember trolling him hard enough to warrent deleting my release... :-? At least no worse than other people whose recycled tapes are are still up there. :D
Anyone know anything about this? No massive deal but seems weird. Might even be an accidental deletion from the list I suppose. Anyway if it really is out of print then I'm in good company with the Gerogerigegege at least...

Some shameless self-promotion here, but I'm still very please by the Trou tape released by RRRon. Also the tape from "L'Autopsie A Révélé Que La Mort Était Due A L'Autopsie" was excellent. In the "less recent category", I have good memories of the Peiiste tape, and the Vomir tape is probably my favourite Vomir release.

I'm guessing that ordering a batch from europe isn't cheap. Is there a euro distro which stocks the recycled tapes?

Not Many, but i recall couple at freak Animal. I just restocked almost all pure/rrr cds that are available. One can buy them for 6,- each and 8 fits for 5€ international shipping... great cds, not bad price...
I do not think Ron is personally slighting anyone by certain tapes or cds no longer being available, it could just be dubbing more is no longer convenient (due to poor interest) or the master is hidden/lost. I've contacted him about various pure CDs being told they were no longer stocked. And honestly given the state of things, especially with Discogs can you blame him? Most of this stuff is available still at very reasonable prices and he's been forced to sell at lower prices on Discogs than on his own site.
I don't personally know Ron, but I assume like everyone participation ebbs and flows, hope he finds passion again soon in performing and releasing...RRR is one of the greats.
Are there even any "new" recycled tapes in the last few years?

Yes, there are. But they're not many. I believe a Limbs Bin Recycled tape was released a month ago or so?
Hymenal Opening and Flagellatio Orgasmus ones recently too.

Yes it's possible i'm just being paranoid. :) pretty sure I couldn't have any less interest than quite a few of the other names released around that time who are still up tho :D
i'd like an up to date pic of rrron's cubic block of noise tapes

Shipping is quite brutal indeed. I've ordrered 2 times small batch for distro, I've got 6 titles available for distro in europe.
Just re-released my deleted Recycled tape: https://cementimental.bandcamp.com/album/rrre-recycled

It would be nice to know what is in each recycled tape. I had impression that not all is the band itself, but RRRon playing/mixing some sort of session out of their albums? I could be wrong, but it should be just few old names. Most should be artists submitting material.
Grunt RRRecycled is live in turku 2004 + acoustic noise material from seer of decay disc 2 sessions (but does not appear on the album).

Most (if not all) of the first batch of tapes was Ron playing other peoples records on the Minutoli, similar to the first batch of Pure cds. There's at least one that I know of that's somebody else pretending to be the band it's listed as. There's quite a few more deleted titles then the ones listed in the threads, and a few that have had the material replaced due to either a damaged master, or by request of the artist. Also pretty sure there's a few titles that he only made a handful of and sold in the shop and never got listed in any of the catalogs, and at least two "unofficial" releases that where done by other people and made to look like official recycled tapes. Would be great to see somebody write a history of the series, but I doubt even Ron remembers all of them at this point.........
I have always been under the impression a major conceit of the series is to provide an inexpensive way to tempt listeners into trying new music without the trappings of overt subject matter (no visuals, no titles, no initial associations and expectations). Due to both Discogs and streaming services, a lot of that purpose is moot today. The 'new music' aspect is not lost, though, when the date is listed. For example, I know there are Hymenal Opening and Flagellatio Orgasmus Tapes which are quite new. I would encourage bands that release in the series going forward to post the date issued. That would be an incentive to try it from the encyclopedic selection available and keep the series going. Just a thought.
A couple entries into the series I have not seen mentioned yet, but absolutely deserve your attention:
Kites
+DOG+
Daylight Savings T.X.
Loop Retard
Due Process (my personal favorite)
Graveyard Crows
Bastard Noise
twodeadsluts onegoodfuck
Buying Recycled tapes is like buying candy sometimes; a cheap and quick fix that can leave you either completely satisfied or sick to your stomach. Some tapes have too much bleed from the original tape, which can either make or break them - my Haters tape sort of benefits from having that WaxTrax rhythm beneath it, while my Skin Crime tape suffers as a result.
As much as it is insane idea to try and be completionist with a series like this, it is only a matter of time before RRRon stops or some titles give like the Crawl Unit one last year. If there is ever one you have had the hankering to hear, might be wise to take the hit and purchase it.
