Yeah, it's that time again. Never bored of it. Not just on Music only (i.e. Movies, events etc.)
I loved Ottis in the Woods. New Brainbombs stuff was very cool despite having less lyrical content...
Other than that I'm not sure what of the stuff I'm listening to's release day.
Um... There was a cap placed on any rise in on the amount of money paid for benefits in the UK, news wise this much I know.
Bizarre Uproar "Sikioasento" 2LP
Whitehouse "Peter Kurten" LP
Striations "To Know Mercy" 2LP
Death Squad "Theological Genocide" 2LP
Agonal Lust - "Body of Death" tape
Concrete Mascara –" Lunar Hunger" tape
I know there are more (tapes!) but those releases are what stood out in my memory along with receiving a lot of spins. Also, I know there are some cd's I have piled up that I need to look through. I didn't really listen to a lot of music this year, unfortunately.
It was a great year for Blu-ray releases:
Suspiria (Synapse); if you're a fan of the film then you need to own it just for the audio: IT'S FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC!!!
Straw Dogs (Criterion)
Wild Beasts (Severin); this is probably the best as it was a film I had never seen before & it's fucking WILD!!!
Devil's Rain (Severin)
Butcher Baker, Nightmare Maker (Code Red)
Cry of a Prostitute (Code Red)
Plus Deathdream (Blue Underground); Silent Night, Deadly Night (Scream Factory) but I haven't watched them yet.
SCUM FC=best&worst of 2017
Anxious to hear the latest Järtecknet records and the new Mania CD which are on their way to me from a trusty old pal Alex from Tordon Ljud.
Rotat's "Hate Is Good" is so far my favorite from him. Scummy sounds, just the way I like it!
Sadio - S/T
Agonal Lust - Body of Death
Tongue Kiss Hematoma - S/T
Sick Seed - Power Play
Scatmother - Vaniticism
Black State - Hlose
Goatmoon - Stella Polaris
Clandestine Blaze - City Of Slaughter
Fleshpress - Hulluuden Muuri
Creamface - Scared, Wet... And Ready
Anthony Braxton live
Deche-Charge live
Magma live
Spectral Voice new LP
Bizarre Uproar DLP
Haggatha V LP
The Rita "Toe Cleavage" (just got it but damn)
Alice Coltrane "The Ecstatic Music of Alice Coltrane"
John Wiese "Escaped Language"
Gnawed / Slit Throats / Crawl Of Time – Industrial-Historical Document Two: Counterinsurgency
Tentative top list of the year
Many great releases this year, the first few I can think of:
Sick Seed: Power Play
Shift: Abandon
Bizarre Uproar: Sikiöasento
Mania: Little Pieces of Violence
Contortus: Violence in Heat
More to follow, maybe.
I didn't listen to a lot of p.e./noise this year and I've missed most of the albums I want to hear (Arkhe, Am Not, Ke/Hil, Sick Seed, BU, Kevlar)... so my favorites come from a limited listening pool.
STROMSTAD - New Devoted Human LP - Malignant - thanks to Mr. Unclean for the heads up on this one. didn't even know this was on the horizon until a few weeks before it came out. i'm biased as i absolutely love STROM.ec and Cloama but this is a damn fine album to my ears. really crisp production/mastering. as usual a sci-fi sound/atmosphere while still sound physical and immediate. vocals are on fucking point to! everything about this one from the artwork to the lyrics to the track titles all works in a wonderful cohesive whole. and it's nice to see Malignant doing more vinyl releases, especially when they look as good as this! only complaint, i wish it was a bit longer.
Mania - Little Pieces of Violence CD - Phage Tapes - i always enjoy Mania and prior to this CD i'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite release (though the split with Coma Detox is fucking killer as is the 7" on F&V), but i can say easily for my taste this is my favorite Mania release. i've listened to this many many times since i received it and i continue to be impressed by the succinct and efficient nature of the tracks. as i said before in the Playlist thread, the 2nd half of the album really gets good with the last track being the ultimate highlight. i love well placed samples and the sample from Klute really makes the track. sidenote, i've got a handful of damn fine releases from Phage and i wonder why i don't follow the label more closely.
Disgusting Sanctum - Processed and Sterilized for Corpse Fucking cassette - Finders - while i've enjoyed DS and CD in the past, this tape matches my taste more than anything i've heard before. maybe it's that there's less murk and a slightly more "musical" edge to the proceedings but i really liked this tape. rock solid death industrial. a damn shame that it was more or less sold out before it's existence was public knowledge. definitely something that deserves a proper CD issue.
Death Shape - Eschatology Through Deconstructive Isolate cassette - Ofiolatria Magna Mystica - this artist reached out to me directly for trade and i'm very glad he did. i was impressed by the bandcamp samples but they don't really do this tape justice. i was instantly reminded of Deathkey, specifically "Doctrine of Intolerant Hatred" era, and while there are certainly shades of that sound, Death Shape his own thing. i've got a soft spot for any kind of suicidal/mystic/misanthropy type stuff and the extravagant packaging really drives the whole thing home. obviously the packaging was a labor of love and happily the music delivers on the promise made by it. probably not for everyone but i'd recommend giving this new artist a shot, if not just for an example of snazzy packaging done right.
as far as non-noise release I enjoyed:
High Functioning Flesh - Culture Cut LP - Dais Records - fantastic record by this duo that changed up their sound by stripping away the extra bits.
Drab Majesty - The Demonstration LP - Dais Records - a wonderful mix of '80s sonic signifiers supported by a unique vision. this album just sounds goddamn gorgeous. great music for winter trips to the ocean.
Undergang - Misantropoligi LP - Me Saco Un Ojo Records - late to the party with this band but damn good death doom metal with great super low vocals reminiscent of Demilich and a powerfully thick sound courtesy of Greg Wilkinson. after hearing this i've been slowly picking up the rest of this bands excellent discography.
Overlook - Smoke Signals 3xLP - UVB-76 Music - best drum & bass album I've heard since 2002? maybe the best since Technical Itch's Diagnostics in 1999? if you dig drum & bass, do yourself a favor and check this one out.
still waiting to get a copy of Aosoth - V: The Inside Scriptures, Anatomia - Cranial Obsession and Circle of Dawn - Northern Savonian Black Metal, but my gut tells me they'll be favorites as well.
Lots of great releases this year, but if we're expanding our lists beyond the boundaries of sound recordings, then the new season of Twin Peaks is best anything of 2017 by a long shot. Sheer brilliance.

Agreed, television gold. The soundtracks and sound design were perfect.
Recommend this if you want to hear some of the ambient / sound pieces from the show

10 new
Sissy Spacek - Slow Move CD Good and heavy. Concept done well, like deep and genuine.
Sissy Spacek - Rip 4XCS+7" Aesthetic and concept contribute to the evaluation, all great sound, but the whole thing noise rules
Kakerlak - Resembling Actuality CS His noise goes where the best sensation of the sound can go. Texture surge and caress
Aaron Dilloway / Jim Morrison - Fear Swept The Poolsides CS fun to be confused by an album
Roland Kayn - A Little Electronic Milky Way Of Sound 16XCD I consider the ultimate composer, fuck I'm mad other people will hear this...
The Gerogerigegege - ST 12" sound is shit, but I respect how this is total crap
The Rita - Journey Of The K-Verband (Throat Lure) 7" I like this stuff.
Various - Tokyo Flashback P.S.F. - Psychedelic Speed Freaks 2XCD Greatest gathering of heroes for fallen comrade.
Ryoji Ikeda - Code Name: A to Z 12" military grade tone worship eternity.
Vis A Vis Audio Arts (Well I guess I like the idea of it, how much even exists? I've taken the bet. Waiting.)
I also would prob like but dont have The Rita - Toe Cleavage box, all those reissues of mainstream Japanese 80's elevator music, I'm sure the new White Poppy album is good, haven't bought much "2017" music this year.
10 reissue
Dendö Marionette - 傀儡電伝 LP Fave area of sound, weird japan 80s.
Gaseneta - ST 7" Hearing EVERY version makes more sense, but this band just has like these 4 songs, god band
Nord - ST 2XCD Obviously.
Poison (Germany) - Hölle Und Vernichtung - Complete Discography '84/'87 5XLP+2XCD True savagery, at least to my ears, ideal characteristics
Atrax Morgue - Early Experiments Of Intense Pathological Sounds 7XCS I hail it for existing. Proper inserts is appreciated. Ideal.
Morbid Opera - Collection LP 80s girl goth punk
Mauthausen Orchestra - Anal Perversions LP GOOD COVER version
Knud Viktor - Ambiances / Images 2XLP God style, I copy this forever. Perfection.
Peppermint Lounge - Perfect High 12" SO fucking glad this got reissued...
Diesel Guitar - box 3XCD still need a copy, I'm cheating
I also would probably love but dont have Merzbow reissues on Menstrual and that Witcyst 4XCD box.. also The Mover - Selected Classics (Remastered 2017) 2XLP, that Fleurety comp, the Genocide Organ set. I could put Yasuo Sugibayashi LP, but I already have the better CD ver from 2014. I would want that Emperor box, but I don't understand how to get that, it seems dumb, too many huge boxsets, ok I want it, but can we be done now with these? Gunner Møller Pedersen – Stoned LP probably rules, Siddeleys demos CD prob rules... lots of reissues.. overwhelming.
the sense of being overwhelmed her is true, whatever your faves are
Alfarmania & Proiekt Hat - Flugornas Herrar
Slutet-Jihad
Erik Enocksson - Man Tänker Sitt, Performed Live At Helligkorskirke
Deverills Nexion - Sinister Musick Vol. III
Michael Morthwork & Richard Moult - The Man Whom The Trees Loved
No idea, I'm far to slow to keep up with new releases but Plus Une Main À Mordre is a sick fucker. Also liked Feberdröm latest releases.
There's a lot I didn't keep up with this year but this is where I ended up:
BIZARRE UPROAR - Sikioasento 2LP (Filth & Violence)
DEATH WORSHIP - Extermination Mass 12" (Nuclear War Now)
THE NAUSEA - Requiem Aeternam CS (Absurd Exposition)
NEANDERTHAL - A History of Violence 12" (Deep Six)
NYOGTHAEBLISZ - Apex Satanist LP (Iron Bonehead)
RIDE FOR REVENGE - Thy Horrendous Yearning LP (Hells Headbangers)

COSEY FANNI TUTTI - Time To Tell LP Reissue (Conspiracy International)

best of 2017
Säkert! -- Däggdjur LP
Kristian Olsson -- Genfärd tape
Tusen År Under Jord -- Sandhavens Genklang LP
Plus I am sure some more stuff that I just haven't had the chance to listen to yet.... Still don't have my copy of Worth's Blinder album, but I'm reasonably confident it would fit on the list. Also the Linekraft CD on Aussaat might be a contender, but I only got it a couple of days ago you know.
While I'm at it, assumably best of 2018
Buck Young LP
Young Hustlers LP
Arbiter tape
Paranoid Time LP
Proiekt Hat long delayed 3LP finally gets a release somehow, after what -- 13 years or something? Ridiculous.

yeah man, sick and crazy packed shows. Some of my fave as well last year.
These lists always boggle my mind, I got a whole batch of tapes that could be contenders in the mail other day. I barely have time to listen to the tapes I bought in 2016....
K2 CD on Oxen is fucking stellar.

Emily Berregaard "Hallowed"

Worst of 2017:
Noisecore as nothing more than comedy to new jacks.
WINCE "Sekt"
PRIVATE ARMS "Your Words Drip Like Wet Saliva"

Definitely spent an arm and a leg to get it, but it was worth it!
addition to my list:
K2/Yasuhito Fujinami *for the Fujinami tracks; beautifully done work and what seems like realizing potential.
Michael Ellingford - A Tangled Web
This individual is my new old favorite aritst. I'm trying to come up with a criticism but, damn, I even like the beard.
2017 was for me the year of the Torba. First persuader was the release from the fine fellows who also brought the abovementioned Michael Ellingford. Then the long trawl, poking around, scraping barrels, scooping up the previously missed- which could be a metaphor for what I like about the project. Very deliberate, patient, exploratory quality, as fragile as occasionally ripped raw, fine ear for detail. No one pick, no, I'll have them all. But all the recent thingies I've encountered are keepers.
