Title: NEWS - noise / industrial / experimental
Post by: FreakAnimalFinland on July 13, 2011, 08:24:12 PM
I was talking with person about how even this small scene as noise (read: vaguely describing whatever noisy) is so scattered, often you have no idea what is happening. If you follow forums, you might not follow twitter. If you follow twitter, you might not follow facebook. If you are in facebook, you might not follow what is being on last.fm or whatever people do nowadays. Nobody has time to follow each individual label website or belong to everybody's mailinglists.

Just found out today Sickness – Fragmented Memory 12" had come out on Gods Of Tundra. Knowing the label, knowing the band, being in touch with them at least once in a while, but still one can simply be utterly clueless about existence of such item.

I had several friends who almost missed Genocide Organ LP, since not knowing its sold exclusively by Tesco. I guess several people did miss Maska Genetic or new Haus Arafna LP's since they were basically sold out by pre-orders? Who would have heard about new Sotos book, unless you're part of the publishers mailinglist or someone told you about it? And so on...

I hope this topic to be just for announcing new interesting releases. It doesn't have to be yours. If you think someone should know about some new release, feel free to post here. Not every label actively comes to promote their stuff on forums, but I could be still interested to hear.

for example:
Deutch Nepal new CD came on Autarkeia

DMDN agonistes LP came out on Supreme Tool Supplies. Those wanting digital version - CD will follow on Industrial Recollections!

After Music Recordings put out pretty good Boy Dirt Car LP not so long ago? It's great compared to the 2007 comeback that was lame. This is good one.

Eric Lunde's been constantly busy for year or so. His Music Is Meat book is totally beyond, but I don't think anyone anywhere mentioned it?

Brand new Sotos or you talking about the re-release (or was that just an example)?

I can never keep up with this stuff although I try to keep up with the material I am interested in. My bookmarks are set-up so I can pretty much go down the list every few days and check updates starting here (the "NEW RELEASES ANNOUNCEMENTS" sub-forum is a welcome change over what we see at Troniks for example), then I'll head over to Troniks and maybe pour over the first page, my e-mail to check mailing lists or e-mails from people wanting me to review something, then my own forums and lastly Facebook. I luckily have pretty narrow tastes and know what I like so I usually don't check out random artists unless it is a label I trust or a side-project or someone gives it a review/description that I like.

Also, I think not mentioned on this forum, but Trash Ritual has two new CD's:
XX Committee cd
DDV cd (club moral)

And also worth to note that in distribution list, is mentioned some exclusive titles like Country Club 2xtape (tape version of 2xLP) and I also guess other items that are only available from him. Probably intentionally low profile & without advertising, but I guess won't hurt if someone knows about them.

Speaking of TR, I've seen Sadist Steel Rebirth CDs for sale on discogs but no announcements on any boards??

Label did Noisefanatics.com PE section announcement.
I don't think it's mandatory for any label to do the modern day "spam everywhere" type of campaign. I generally advertise in maximum of 2 boards.
That is reason why I opened this topic. Don't be shy of letting others to know about releases that don't get promoted in board. Like I would assume when Steinklang finally gets out Hijokaidan and Jojo Hiroshige CD's, it won't be type of label that post news about these in noiseboards...

Trash Ritual announced the 2 cd's on the Noisefanatics PE forum. I may order the DDV soon. I have the orig tape & it's very good.

News sometimes hard to come by is why people ask is 'such n' such still around' then they get jumped on by idiots.

News MANIA-related:

MANIA/CUSTODIAN split LP soonish, next month probablyon NoVisibleScars
"Grotesque Mirth" 7" out now on Filth & Violence (see the release announcement section)

Trash Ritual releases were mentioned on various message lists, boards, fliers, etc (which includes Special Interest). Steel Sadist Rebirth titles are found in the distribution section of the Trash Ritual site. Working on putting together a special page for distribution items only that will come in the future.

Recent news of collected Brighter Death Now as well as Innerwar CD reissue coming soon. Should mention this was announced by Tesco. Posting is below.

Brighter Death Now ( BDN) - Very little fun 3CD boxset / 4LP boxset (CMI209) A box without tricks! No fillout material! No extras! No gloomy video-tracks! No instrumental versions! No remixes!
This is BRIGHTER DEATH NOW, and it's Very Little Fun.
This material has been recorded between 1998-2005, and is not just left-overs, but also the raw sound and direct result of a collapsing mental health! Yet, we cannot escape the fact that these 27 tracks are both of a fascinating and intriguing nature, but also that these utterly dark industrial cadaverous sounds will push your mood down to a risky level even for the more sane listener (if any...). Well, You have been warned! It is a dark depressive world painted with a gruesome black mind and a bleeding heart. This is what makes the sound of Roger Karmanik/Brighter Death Now so special and one-of-a-kind! - Depression guaranteed! The LP set is limited to 500 cop. only!

(Just got this in the mail, could be of interest -)

Rapoon / Mykel Boyd split 12"
Robin Storey was once a member of Zoviet France. Now he records under Rapoon. He creates beautiful ethno ambient sounds.
Mykel Boyd once saw Zoviet France perform. He makes recordings of things and then alters them to sound like planes taking off.

standard edition 12" on white vinyl in black on black letter pressed sleeve. limited to 200 copies = $22.00 post paid in USA, $26 post paid the world

artist edition includes 12" on white vinyl in white on white letter pressed sleeve and two 10"x10" letterpress prints, one from each artist
limited to 100 copies, signed and numbered. = $65.00 post paid in USA, $70 post paid the world

also now available is....

Francisco Lopez "untitled #272 [antarctica variations]"
Total length: 24 hours
Release format: mp3-160kbps file in Metal USB Flash Drive.
Edition of 300 drives.

Recorded using hydrophones under a 100-meter thick ice sheet on the Ekström ice shelf in Antarctica.
This will be considered a major work by the renowned Spanish sound artist.

$45.00 post paid in USA, $50 post paid the world

In the near future (hopefully this fall), we will have a cd version of the Rapoon / Mykel Boyd record.
It will feature the tracks from the lp as well as remixes by Mystified, Theory Anesthetic and Allan Zane.
Once we work out the edition size it should be off to the pressing plant.

Also this fall we will attempt to finally catch up, with the release of the Vertonen / Mykel Boyd split 12".

many more interesting projects are in the works.
please visit the website for all of our back catalog releases.

Yeah, I have not seen it mentioned. I got it in distro available. I think flimsy 7" size cover isn't the best idea, but still real CD and glossy full color art so..

Didn't the label also do couple Komissaren Hjuler vinyls? So many trades done, I keep losing track of things...

Also, maybe for lovers of live gigs and jap noise amongs other things, could hint this. Pro-DVD releases aren't that huge within noise, so could be worth checking out:

AGAINST 2008 - FUKUOKA EXTREME MUSIC FESTIVAL "" dvd
Hijokaidan, Kappa / Denshitakujo Ongakudan, Government Alpha, Anthony Guerra / Joel Stern, Jazkamer, Justice Yeldham, Zeroreality, Soul Kyodai, Mani Neumeier, Tekikoku Ongaku, Magnet Dub Trio. COLOR / NTSC (all regions) duration 75:58 Features photo gallery and short still movie of Hijokaidan by Kaz Tsurudome.

you know im not too sure. he kept changing the name of the label while this cd was in progress. it was static storm, static textures something like that. he also has a Ramirez vinyl(or it might be a lathe?) in the works.

Saw that there will be a Pharmakon/Deterge 7" on Phage Tapes, co-released with Fusty Cunt. Think it's a split, but I'm not certain. Haven't heard Deterge yet, but I think I read some good comments about them (him?) and looking forward to finally get a release from Pharmakon, since tracks I heard on various places on the internet sounded really good.

I'm not sure if I should post this here but anyhow. Skin Area is recording their third album, titled "Rothko Field" which will be released by Malignant Records. There's a possibility to listen to track 8 (In The Skin II) from the Soundcloud page of Maligant Records.

At least label said it would be Skin Area's best album. There was also other interesting news to come from Malignant late this year.

Now some news:

Blood Axis "Ultimacy" CD - very good. Now just waiting they get the "Gospel.." re-issue LP out!
I guess new Of Wand And The Moon album is for someone taste too..

Vinyl On Demand new batch is out.
Laibach box is total monster!
Grim box is essential for fans of obscure jap industrial/noise/experimental, including the rare "vital" tape!
Club Moral 5xLP probably doesn't need much comments.

STAB Electronics LP on Unsound (c/o Unrest!) is something any brutal PE fan should aim to get. See playlist for more comments.

For lovers of Finnish early experimental music, Ektro put out Erkki Kureniemi tape, but sold out in matter of hours, I think? Still available Erkki Kureniemi / Circle collaboration LP. Maybe time to ask label to re-press the tape.

New VIVENZA re-issue came from Rotorelief. Not yet listened, but looks very similar to previous. Those oversized rigid LP covers and digipak CD with black surface uv disc. Early 80's material.

It will be tough for the wallet to keep up with all this...

From coptic cat newsletter:
QuoteThe entire C93 back catalogue is to be reissued on vinyl. If the individual who bought the original artwork for Swastikas for Noddy from Steven Stapleton and me in the late 1980s/early 1990s is reading this, I would very much like to get a high-quality photograph of the artwork to use on the reissue. Please email me at Coptic Cat with your details if you are willing to do this.

Have forgotten this topic, but lets remind about few news from labels who may not post on the forum:

GRUNT "Europe After Storm" CD re-press on Force Majeure very soon (was it may 2012?). They do it like Someone Is Watching was: in black plastic box type of packaging. Last year it was just some leftover discs of 1st edition. Now this is actually repress of album.

MK9 / Michael Nine "Discography and Video 2001-2006" 2xCD
Neural Operations just put this out. Says 2011, but I think it just came out? Includes post-Death Squad works of Michael, 1st disc audio and 2nd disc enhanced video disc. Pressed released, in super-jewelbox.

HAL HUTCHINSON - Wreckage & Reconstruction LP

Recorded during the same series of sessions that resulted in 'Corrupted Scrap' (Freak Animal Records 2011),'Wreckage & Reconstruction' uses the same Factory Of Metal Sound technique that was applied to some of my previous metalwork releases, but this time exhibits a much more overdriven and bulked up end result that I was not expecting,as most of the prior attempts at perfecting and genuinely capturing the sound I wanted had ended up yielding more 'ambient' results. However,as is the nature with improvised sound recording, one never knows what will be the outcome.

Despite the fact that all the recordings I have made using the Factory Of Metal Sound technique have ultimately failed in capturing the sound I wanted to present successfully,'Wreckage & Reconstruction' I feel bears the most faithful resemblance to the sound I originally desired, and is therefore the closest I have come to truly instinctive and direct expression as far as the previous metalwork releases I have recorded are concerned.I wanted to capture an original sound by bringing any outside influences to collapse, and to reconstruct a new environment from there onwards, allowing for these recordings to exist without the need for comparisons. What you hear on this record is me playing with my life involved.

Oh wow, that is good news and a good price. I've always wanted that but the prices are too steep for used copies, especially for the version that came in the fag bag/man purse. Am I right to assume that most of the stuff on there are full albums, some extracts but mainly full length, like Male Rape Group On To '83 is on there in its full length, same with Conflict from MO, "Allies" compilation, etc or are they all extracts? I can't check discogs from my phone or else I would look my self.

*EDIT* I checked it out and found my answer.

Sorry a bit off-topic but I could sell my maniac vinyl version and replace it with the CD version. Very well kept, would not hesitate to say it is mint, never used the shirt or bag. In Discogs the average and median price are nearly the same (~ 140 €) and could sell it for that. Send a message if interested.

Can't comment on the Incapacitants albums but YOUTH Inc seem to be getting deep into the reissue box sets. They released Merzbow's "Merzphysics" and also two Kaoru Abe box sets that reissue his collab and solo albums on PSF and DIW, along with some unreleased stuff. Their website (HERE (http://www.youth-inc.jp/)) has a reduced deal for one Abe boxset with a t-shirt that I really want to order, but unfortunately it seems to be Japan only orders...

good label, but beware they declare full value on the packages so you'll have to pay a lot in fees [as i found out] ..seemingly going against the "gentlemen's agreement" of casually breaking the law [amongst underground distributors, that is..]

Great news! I have recently been expanding my Incaps collection, but most of the Alchemy releases are still missing in my collection because the going rates for them are often ridiculous. I picked up Repo for what I thought was a decent €35, but many others are offered for $60 and up, which I rarely pay for a single disc item, regardless of its rarity. This, then, is absolutely fantastic news. No doubt I'll be picking up everything I'm missing. Very curious about the box, but an educated guess seeing the description would be the 9 albums to be reissued, 1 or 2 discs of unreleased material and 1 or 2 DVDs of live material.

QuoteTBD BOX (original 9 piece + unreleased CD2 + live 2 piece films) [CD+DVD]

The numbers add up, at least: Repo, Live, Feedback of NMS, Fabrication, Default Standard, 73, New Movements in CMPD, No Progress, and Quietus. This would definitely be a good deal (I only have Repo and 73 of this list). If the box looks any good I'll definitely go for it (if it is anything like Merzphysics I wouldn't, as decent as that looks - I'd prefer jewelcases for all titles if this truly is a box of all reissued albums).

Also, thanks for the heads-up on the Cold Spring release - ordered!

Esplendor Geométrico - 1980-1981 Prehistoric Sounds - Necrosis en la Poya and more

QuoteRELEASE DATE: 15 JULY 2012. Special deluxe Edition, limited to 1000 numbered copies of a hard cardboard box set which includes three 7" singles (each with its own sleeve), a CD in slim cardboard sleeve, an 8-page booklet, and a card. It contains the first material recorded by Esplendor Geométrico between 1980-1981. One of the singles included their first demo, recorded after their formation, with three tracks of industrial-minimal-tecno pop among which is the well known "Moscú está helado". This demo was sent in 1980 to the German label Ata Tak, run by Der Plan, who chose "Moscú..." for their legendary compilation "Fix Planet!". The second single is a facsimile reissue of "Necrosis en la poya", originally released in 1981 and which already shows EG´s shift towards harsher industrial rhythms. Finally, the third single includes four tracks recorded in 1981 soon after "Necrosis...". Three of them are previously unreleased and were found recently on an old, lost reel tape. The CD includes the ten tracks from the singles plus another five extra tracks from the same period, originally released on the cassette "Esplendor Geométrico 1980-1981". The 8-page booklet features texts, designs and period photos. All tracks have been remastered and the artwork is by Juan Carlos Sastre, professional designer, founding member of EG and also author of the tracks lyrics (Móscú está helado, Negros hambrientos...). Only the boxes sold through our website included as EXCLUSIVE gift three E.G. badges.

Anyone who gets this, please inform me if it´s the same digital ilk as the latest 7" and the short studio tracks on the Dogma Chase LP. I never thought i'd say this, but if it is I could really live without this one-sided LP.

v/a - angst

angoisse confirms it's belief that a new landscape is beginning to emerge from the alchemy in sacrificial paradox and the purity of distance to present ANGST...

a v/a quadriptych featuring what we consider four of the most interesting projects worldwide that are active today and working in the fields of experimental music:

ARV & MILJÖ (Sweden) - KAM HASSAH (Italy) - LEBENSFADEN (Japan) - MIRRORED HALL (USA)

A four way ode to that which is desensitized by its unequal exposure to the sunken memories that radiate inside one's head. The stress fractures of a shaven crystal. A whisper of static, debris floating up. A faint breeze to turn the flame away.

c42 - two tracks per side. comes w/ insert.

I think it also may be due trying to stir some interest in the release overall? Also Steinklang has made announcement of new vinyl pressing plant with small editions available, but i'm not sure they're really connected? I actually ordered the Vasilisk LP but don't have any really high hopes.

I didn't check out the small edition vinyl thing, but I know one pressing plant in netherlands who just while ago announced they're looking for "agents" to arrange work for them. Doing 100 copies vinyl with covers etc.
Vasilisk is decent release, yet it didn't awake any real or strong emotional responses. Just kind of "good, they didn't suck bad - as I expected", hah..

QuoteFFH - make them understand - LP

American revisionist power electronics. First full length LP. Edition of 114 with booklet.

----

DEATHPILE - g.r. - LP

From 1995 to 2004 Jonathan Canady led the classic american power electronics band Deathpile, which culminated in the 2003 release of G.R., the band's final album. Co-released by Force of Nature Productions and Hospital Productions, the album instantly set a new benchmark in extreme music, providing a fully realized, investigative, confrontational intensity, while exploring the perspective of the perpetrator, in this case one Gary Ridgway. Longtime industrial and experimental musician David E. Williams provides masterful analogue synth work alongside Canady's devastating vocal performance, which stands as one of the most powerful in all of extreme music's history, a testament to controlled chaos and full immersion into the most challenging of subject matters.

Canady's dynamic artistic contributions have included time at Relapse Records as art director, releasing albums as Dead World on Nuclear Blast, Relapse and Release, exhibiting internationally as a visual artist, as well as operating the Malsonus label, responsible for 1999's definitive " The Sound of Sadism" compilation, among others.

Ten years on, G.R.'s cultural influence is felt in print, covered in "Gathering of the Tribe: Music and Heavy Conscious Creation" by Mark Goodall, and sonically, as one of the high marks in all of american power electronics. Mastered by Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer, Deathpile's G.R. is now made available for the first time on vinyl in an edition of 500.

SubDVD is the store front and distribution branch of Njutafilms. Go to http://www.subdvd.com/ and click on "English" at the top of the page, and you should have all info that you need. Njutafilms were also responsible for putting out "Pearls Before Swine" a decade ago, as well as the "Back to Human Nature" video collection that is so worth it for the Halo Manash contribution alone.

VASILISK
Whirling Dervishes LP/CD - SK77
Mkwaju LP/CD - SK78
Acqua LP/CD - SK79

WHITE HOSPITAL
Holocaust LP/CD - SK81

QuoteVASILISK and WHITE HOSPITAL are two of the greatest Artists in Industrial/Ritual/Noise music ever.
The original LPs from the 80es are ultra-rare and sell for insane prices. "Holocaust" and "Whirling Dervishes" are two of the best, most rare and most expensive records in history of Industrial Musik.

WHITE HOSPITAL was founded in 1984 by
Tomosada Kuwahara who later established his own music under VASILISK
Jun Konagaya who is the man behind GRIM, another unique pearl of 80ies Noise Music.

We are able to bring You these MEGAPEARLS of early Japanese Experimental Music from
the 80ies in different stunning versions on LP and CD with a lot of early, unreleased bonus songs.

Vinyl pressing are very small.

Tomosada Kuwahara who later established his own music under VASILISK
Jun Konagaya who is the man behind GRIM, another unique pearl of 80ies Noise Music.

Ugh, anyone but Steinklang. Wish Haang Niap would do it instead.

On a side note, all that stuff Steinklang "remastered" sounds like shit. Bricked all to hell. Didn't know remastering only involved compressing the fuck out of everything so that the entire album clips. Ichiro did the same thing with the Zigoku remaster (disc 2 of Ten Realms box). Like they listened to too much NTT and SHP and thought that sounded good.

Quoting myself from last June. Hope they didn't fuck this up.

** EDIT: Just noticed that this label owner is discussed in the "Rip Off Alerts" thread (http://www.special-interests.net/forum/index.php?topic=174.msg35610#msg35610) -- probably wouldn't have reposted this announcement if I knew multiple people had issues... **

I saw this announcement on Maniacs Only--some of you may have missed it... I have no way of listening to the sample from where I'm typing this, but it seems to me that reissues of pre-Hunting Lodge cassettes could be interesting... (Anybody on this forum already heard Screw Machine?) There's also a Minoy reissue in the same batch.

GR279: Screw Machine - Early Works Of Skott Rusch 1981-1982 3xcassette boxset
- Screw Machine was the short lived and little-known first project by Skott Rusch, founding member of Port Huron, MI industrial pioneers Hunting Lodge. Three tapes were recorded and distributed very briefly locally and through the mail, sent to popular industrial artists at the time.
In early 1982, Lon Diehl, another local musician interested in challenging and innovative music, heard the tapes, and soon after Hunting Lodge was formed. In the same instance, Screw Machine was terminated.
The cassettes - "Mental Block", "Working With Flesh & Metal", and "Tattooed Fetus" were forgotten as well.
30+ years later, i'm proud to present, in newly remastered form, 3 cassettes of some of the earliest murky, organic, minimal noise recorded in Michigan. Packaged with two booklets featuring original art, liner notes, and more. Quite graphic imagery inspired by SPK, etc.
The historic significance of these tapes cannot be overstated - these recordings helped directly lead to the formation of Hunting Lodge.
All tapes recorded 1:1 in real time. Xerox art and booklets, labeled tapes.
Parties interested in obtaining this set elsewhere, please contact Jeff Chenault/Exoteque Music at exoteque@gmail.com

OUT NOW -

Very limited tape version as well.

www.menstrualrecordings.org

Listened to the samples: the first LP is pretty great & the B-side of the untitled LP is interesting. I think I have a dub of "Mental Answer" & never found it
interesting. Much of the work sounds like a lower-fi M.B., not bad but nothing I'd want to drop a bunch of money on. Still, if this boxset was right in front of me, I'd
find it difficult not to snatch one up & run away quickly...
