I was listening to a very old Wertham track the other day ('It's All About...' from Transmissions of Hatred comp) and noticed what I am sure is some harmonica playing in the mix. Not an instrument often associated with the genre.

Dedicated to the Italian crimonologist Cesare Lombroso who, among the many things, has become notorious due to his theories regarding criminal atavism and collected hundreds artifacts, objects and artworks belonging to the criminally insane.
Many of his teories have been contraddicted during the years but, as Friedrick Wertham, set some milestones for modern day criminology.
I highly suggest his studies on Italian mass murderers and lunatics, yet his best work is "L'uomo delinquente" (the criminal man).
Immediately after that, I will forward Santos the new caligula tape, featuring the first ever track I have recorded as C031 and the extended/proper version of 22100 featured as a loop on SANTOS floppy series.
Will post appetitizer as soon the tracks will be mixed.
I just picked up Slavetrade after seeing it in numerous "Best Of 2012" posts on the Noisefanatics forum. Excited to get it.

I must highly recommend "Memories from the Pigsty" for those who don't have it already. I slept on it until very recently getting it straight from Marco and it's top calibre power electronics. It brings to mind both German and British pe, but it has its own unique voice. Essential listening.

I am quite excited about the whole work.
it will be part of a trilogy regarding Sardinian criminal subcultures, NOT dealing with any kidnapping/sheep fucking stereotypes, but more to blood-feuds, revenge, etc.
as mentioned in other threads, uncodified is an Italian Industrial/PE project run by Corrado Alteri, who has been releasing sounds part of several projects since the 80's: TH26, MONOSONIK, CANDOR CHASMA, etc.
I highly suggest all his works, especially his latest work on Santos "Backlight". we are planning further collaborations in different forms.

Can't wait for more Caligula material (a Grey Wolves split?!?). I missed out on both "Odessa" and "Domino". I have heard 2 complete tracks and then the samples of the latter and love it. The repetitious tracks, the lower more dirty type of whispery vocals and the "lo-fi" style of some of the recordings are my favorite things about this project, although I can't complain about any of it.
Man, I snoozed on Odessa too and you're just making it harder with all those up-and-coming releases! Ha.

"Vindicta", is the first chapter of a trilogy focusing on grim/tragic aspects of Sardinian culture, recorded by UNCODIFIED (feat. Corrado Altieri of Candor Chasma, Monosonik), and WERTHAM (feat. Marco Deplano of Caligula031 and Foresta di Ferro) in 2013.
Based on true stories, 8 tracks of uncompromising power electronics, composed mostly by abrasive high/mid frequencies with a strongly analog feel, harsh explosions, pulsating structures, full frontal angry vocals, extensive use of on-theme samples and a couple of more atmospheric/industrial tracks, in an attempt to blend the two projects' sounds to create a soundtrack for the everlasting blood feuds between families.
Vindicta tries to capture stills of a dying culture where family was sacred, the knife was considered a man's best friend, and blood called for blood.
Mastered by Simon Balestrazzi (TAC, Candor Chasma, etc.), this work is co-produced by Old Europa Café with the projects themselves and Marco's own new label "Elettronica Radicale Edizioni"."

Good news.
Some years ago Old europa cafe announced a split/collaboration lp between wertham and grey wolves entitled ramraiding the abyss. this has been postponed for quite a long time, some stuff was part of the "left-overs" of division and siege completely reworked, etc,.
but I am quite happy to inform anybody interested that the release will be out this Autumn and it will be a three name record: THE GREY WOLVES, WERTHAM and SURVIVAL INSTINCT, which is Trev Ward new project, that it is not a simple GW side project but a beast of its own, blending classic Uk PE and strong industrial elements.
All brand new material, 2 tracks from each project and some collaboration tracks, and we are considering some extras.
I have to record vocals for the collaboration tracks in the next weeks and the master will be ready.
More details soon.

I am satisfied about the tracks delivered, everything in focus with the idea of LOUDNESS. I am waiting for the final interviews for the booklet and will be ready to go.
Also other volumes are already in the making with some early birds that already delivered their contributions.

Old Captain is glad to celebrate WERTHAM's 20th anniversary by releasing "Tell Me The Truth", a collection of old releases and difficult-to-find tracks from the Italian Power Electronics project that made quite a name for itself thanks to a full-frontal approach that mixes multiple-layered sound structures with aggressive vocals, intense use of samples and uniquely-structured concepts. "Tell me the truth" focuses mostly on the first decade of WERTHAM's recordings, including sold-out tapes, 7"s, contribution to splits, rare tracks from compilations, excerpt from early works and one unreleased song, for approximately one hour of sheer violence, rough sounds and uncompromising attitude, remastered by Monsieur Yvan Battaglia (LCHM). Gender wars, leatherboys, STDs, general socio-biology, frustrations of the modern 9-5 man, Insubria white trash mentality, stereotypes, nutritional disorders, self deprecation, glorification of decaying icons of a withering world are the main themes expressed mostly with minimal slogans. CD comes in an illustrated black and white 6-tray digipack featuring extensive text and detailed information.

I had several issues with the boxes, and the company I work for decided to move which stopped my extra-job activties for about 3 months... but now back on track and hope to finish it soon.

After one year from the first chapter, UNCODIFIED (feat. Corrado Altieri of Candor Chasma, Monosonik, etc.) and WERTHAM return with the second chapter of the "Vindicta" trilogy , once again focusing on Sardinian criminal history and culture.
The sound slightly turned into more constructed high voltage power electronics, with stronger industrial structures and pulsating bass frequencies that do not betray the expectations of the previous installment. The two projects blend their experience into an avalanche of analog sounds, distorted synths, extensive use of samples and agonizing vocals that scream in Sardinian, Italian and English.
The concept slightly moves from the blood-feud/knife obsessive themes of the first work, toward the aftermath of the war between families that lead the protagonist of our tale to turn into a feral life style on impenetrable mountains, "living like boars and sleeping like foxes", until his capture and subsequent confinment in the notorious Buoncammino's jail. The solitude of the forced mountain life meet the despair of 30 years of life in a cage of the notorious legal lager.
8 tracks, digipack, with a rich booklet with illustrations and text translated into English, "Vindicta II" is mastered by Simon Balestrazzi (TAC, Candor Chasma, etc.). Another collaboration between Old Europa Café and Marco's label Elettronica Radicale Edizioni.

Its views of female beauty are double-edged: on the one hand, it speaks of women's beauty as partly consisting of power, intelligence, and agency, while on the other hand, it celebrated the beauty of purely feminine display. - Sally Banes"
For THE RITA, the classical ballet in the last few years has been an epiphany; a massive amalgamation of obsessive and fetishistic elements not unlike earlier interests and themes that have directly provided the structure for abrasive sound found in his past recordings. Ballet themed recordings of THE RITA from the past two years have concentrated on the single ballerina, the development of the form translated via direct sources - the mic'd thigh, the pointe shoe, the ballet flat on the hardwood floor. Slowly, heavily directed and building to a 'crescendo', the stage was set for the harsh noise contemplation of the multiple female dancers and the eventual stage productions of the turn of the century classical ballet, most notably the projects choreographed by ballet master Marius Petipa.
From the 'Kingdom of the Shades' segment of La Bayadere, to the 'Danse des cygnes' of Swan Lake, to the 'Pas de six' of Sleeping Beauty, Marius Petipa was a master of staging the female form(s) in a time when the tights, pointe shoes and the revealing of the leg and it's expression via the tutu was prevalent in the classical ballet. Petipa's esteemed examples of the art form aside, It's difficult to not try and contemplate the motives, manner and the direction of the classical ballet and it's grandiose staging of 50+ female dancers on stage when the ballet was still in the shadow of the 'ballerina-courtesan' trade of Vienna and of course the famous 'foyer de la danse' at the Paris Opera.
Marius Petipa's masterpiece of multiple female staging for the THE RITA and these recordings is his ballet RAYMONDA (1898), most notably the 'Grand pas d'ensemble' which is a virtual gallery of ballerinas in the classical form, organized and choreographed to exercise beauty in numbers, to highlight the inherent power and grandiose nature of graceful movement in symmetry. THE RITA's 'Raymonda (Stage Arrangement of Women)' recordings signify the mountainous nature of the aforementioned arrangements via heavily distorted layering of various Raymonda stagings cut into repeatedly with mic'd ballet pointe shoe ribbon and metal chain abuse. The resulting sound is almost impenetrable, an avalanche of harsh noise that directs the listener back to THE RITA's CD works such as '1000s of Dead Gods' and 'Bodies Bare Traces of Carnal Violence', but this time with the massive study and focus of the staging of the classical ballet. The material and it's accompanying booklet and imagery portray the inherent lasting voyeuristic fetishism of abstract female perfection first portrayed by the massively staged ballet works and tendencies of the late 1800s classical ballet 'Grand pas' or 'Ballabile' and it's power through movement in symmetry via more contemporary performances.
The Rita CD has been postponed to September.

The next ERE release will be "LOUDNESS", the first volume of the Encyclopedia of Radical Electronics, despite being one year late than the original plan due to both logistic and personal issues, I confirm the boxset is in the making and not forgotten and will be terminated before any other project. I confirm that the first box will include 4 C30 tapes and will include Grunt, Bizarre Uproar, Megatsunami, Wertham, Negative Climax, The Rita, Drug Age, Uncodified and a 20 page professionally printed booklet with information about each project, a column by Mikko Aspa regarding "The importante of Loudness" and an overview of "loud" gear. Reservation will be accepted only once the thing will be in the plant. If this time things will go as planned, second volume "Harshness" will be ready before Xmas. I already have received contributions from Vomir and The Haters, rest of line up will be confirmed once all the material is in.
The main problem with the delay was due to the boxses. Once I got all material the factory failed to send me the samples I have requested. When they did they were the wrong kind and once replacement arrived they were going to close for summer vacation. The in September I started a series of works at my daily job that didn't leave me enough time to focus properly on the thing... And now things are finally moving. Thanks to all projects involved for holding on with me. Since it will be limited, only a few distros will have copies.
The following release will be a brand-new CD by Sam McKinlay's THE RITA, entitled "Raymonda (Stage Arrangement of Women)". It should be released in September, so distros you can already get in touch, I already know the wholesale prices. Act fast.
A European unit of Death Pact International will release a 4 track tape for Nil By Mouth in the next months. Aldo will also release the third and final installment of Wertham's Lombroso trilogy. Line-up for this release should include The Grey Wolves, Wertham, Barrikad and Uncodified.
I have just finished mixing the new Caligula031 release for UK's cult label WRATH. Format and title will be announced soon. "Galerianki" has been postponed a bit since I have asked a special guest to contribute some vocals in Polish mother-tongue. I am almost done mixing the "Balkan delights" release that should be released this year by Total Black.
There are several other releases on the go, will update you when the times come. It will be a very hot summer.

The Encyclopedia of radical electronics kept being postponed due to both technical reasons and time limitations. I had to change supplier of boxes two times, tape factories made me wait to have ideas of prices, then I got flooded with job related matters and such a big effort could not been taken care of properly. Said this, despite the fact I am still in the middle of a job-related thunder storm, I am getting always closer to the end. Material supplied by projects (who I thank for their patience and effort) is superb and definitely fits the project. The reason I am still not taking reservation is because I don't want to have cash in advance until the thing is in the pressing plant.
100 copies will be printed, each project will get 4 copies and only very few will be given to wholesale, so, unless we agreed otherwise, make sure to be quick when I'll send out information.

Currently in production:
CALIGULA031 – AMRIA – Tape (Wrath) (3 versions, tape, tape + dvd, tape+dvd+vhs. The label did great work with layout, probably December)
CALIGULA031 – TOPOGRAPHY OF SMUT VOL 1 – (Filth and Violence) C031 goes back where it was born. Filth and Violence will release this first collection of the first two tapes "Albanian meat market" (F&V) and "Domino" (Nil By Mouth), plus two new unreleased tracks, with extensive text and full color layout.
Then two more tapes (Galerianki, on so called Polish mall girls and one on the French sex trade) and the new full length CD "The Smut Sommeliers", which will be based on the source material provided for THE RITA's "Escorting" boxset. It is already recorded and mixed, but I still need some time to work on layout. There are several other releases planned. A collaboration 7" with Dead Body Collection, a few tapes and I am almost done mixing "Balkan delights", a 120 minutes boxset about the Balkan Wars, and the consequent human trafficking from that region.
WERTHAM
Things have been still in the past few months.
Next releases will be LOMBROSO III, out on Nil By Mouth and the second full length CD "Bodies under siege". None of them will be immediate.
Apart from Vindicta III, Wertham's next collaboration with a notorious German industrial project. Sounds were delivered to me a few years back, but they are definitely still good. We'll go back to pure 90's European heay weight PE/INDUSTRIAL. I'll be taking care of vocals and samples.
DEATH PACT INTERNATIONAL
Italian cult label Butcher's house is going to release a DPI Italia vinyl with several projects involved! I will spread the news as soon I will know more about dates, etc.
A new tape involving The Grey Wolves, Wertham, Barrikad and Uncodified is planned for the next months for Nil By Mouth.
Elettronica Radicale Edizioni is also planning to make available backing tracks and other material to be used freely to set up your DPI gigs/releases.
COLLABORATIONS
For the next months there will not further collaborations apart from the already planned one. I have recently contributed with sounds and vocals to the next releases of Solco Chiuso, a new noise/experimental project hailing from Sicily and obscure industrial combo Satanismo Calibro 9, from Milan. Furthermore I have been invited to contribute to "CrucifEgo", a musical trip depicting a complete spiritual path, as explained in the teachings of the New Processean Order. This spiritual journey start with the "Crucifixion of the ego" and end with the "Exit." FORESTA DI FERRO and JOHN MURPHY
Last but not least, as most of you already know, the one and only John Murphy left us, leaving an unsettling sense of emptiness surrounding us. I won't repeat what I have already said elsewhere, but we were all gutted, yet we are sure John will still be with us for the years to come since he left an enormous amount of material, thoughts, sounds, influences and memories, both at personal level than as music-partner.
Due to John's loss, we have decided to place the works of the forthcoming "Might be never, may be forever" album on hold until at least the next year. John had already contributed with many sounds and we hoped to either meet or record percussions separately, this winter.
Our thoughts go to his wife Annie and his closest circle of friends who have been close to John during the last days on this planet.

Just posting some updates I have published on my blog.
Good-evening and good-day
This is quick post to inform you that my silence of the past few months was not due to anything life-threatening, nor any enrollment in foreign-fighter group.
Since December, my life has been pretty hectic due to a massive job-related project (or better 4 different projects), and this forced me to freeze my all my activities and communication, apart from basic communication and orders.
I need a break of a few weeks before getting back to normal, but I have already started answering all unresponded e-mails and make a plan about releases.
So, if you are a label awaiting to release any of my material, thanks for sticking with me and sorry if I didn't reply yet.
Plans didn't change, so no release is cancelled. Just be patient.
Regarding ERE, I am finishing mixing 3 new CALIGULA031 tracks that will be part of a vinyl release with a well-known notorious noise monger, more info soon.
Other planned releases for this year under the ERE banner will be the Encyclopedia of Radical Electronics volume 1 (almost two years of delay, but still in the pipeline, so don't worry), Vindicta Volume III and possibly another project involving the best and the worst of Italian radical electronics.
Regarding Vindicta, plans are for the end of the year and this will be the final chapter of the trilogy, but definitely not the last collaboration Corrado and I will have. There are plans for a new concept, completely unrelated to our ethnic/crime related research.
A newsletter will be issued soon, I am considering using mail-chimp, but I will still be in touch personally, it will be just easier to get through with mass-mailing without being filed as a spammer.
Before closing, I just wanted to inform you that I am focusing on working on comics/graphic novel related texts and researches, so there may be more posts on the subject in the future on my blog, mostly in Italian, any suggestion for new authors, especially underground, is always welcome. My idea is to collect some short interviews from authors, editors, and issue them there... we'll see what happens.

Some information.
The past few months were a disaster jobwise, this reduced time for focusing on sounds and releases, with a few pre-planned exceptions. Things will be still going slow for a few months and would like to focus on the new long delayed ENCYCLOPEDIA.
All labels an friends waiting for my material with different projects for releases and samples will be contacted in the next months. I have stopped most activities and I am releasing stuff in "chronological" order.
The first outputs planned for early 2017 other labels will be

There will be a couple more releases that are almost ready, but won't announce until they are finished.
Other material announced will follow, but plans are to have new full lengths out for Wertham (Bodies under siege), CALIGULA031 (The Smut Sommeliers) and FORESTA DI FERRO (Might be never, may be forever).
Once finished the big batch of material I have in stand by, I will start two new projects with other friends.

I have managed to send out 100% of orders. I just wanted to inform you that the crappy Italian mail system is acting crazy, so be patient if stuff takes a while. There have been some US deliveries arriving in 4 days (!) and several Italian ones not reaching destination yet after almost two weeks despite the priority mail. Please confirm when you get the package so I am happier.
CALIGULA031 shirts have all be sent, there are a couple still waiting for payments, after than I will calculate if there are more left. I suppose I will have still some Ms, 1 xl, 1xxl. but I will confirm once everything is clear.
I still have a few Contagious orgasm/caligula031 tapes that you can find also at Tesco, Freak Animal and Filth & Violence.
Next release on the pipeline on the label will be the collaboration tape between Caligula031 and Mulo Muto, a Swiss project I am really enjoying at the moment.
A nice Italian label is going to release soon a new C031 tape entitled Case Chiuse, part of a trilogy focusing on Italian brothels through the ages since they became illegal thanks to feminist+Catholic coalition.
I have a few more collaborations to go so won't be doing more for the rest of the year (unless already announced), as well as this year I intend to close all delayed/postponed releases who were announced as far as 5 years ago. Labels will be contacted :)
Sorry for the silence and constant delay in communication, 2018 was a difficult years for personal reasons, let's hope 2019 is better.

I'm slowly getting back to normal and resuming some activities. Including sending out material which was impossible due to the block of smart working in Switzerland.
I issued a new distro list that includes some restocks, a couple of lost & found and the left over of other labels material.

- Caligula031/The Rita – self shop – cd reissue of the tape on nil by mouth with a long new extra
- Wertham - Lombroso Cd-R -limited object featuring the two Lombroso tapes
- Drieu – La distruzione – LP (post punk meets oi , featuring yours truly and members of erode
- Drieu – Solito stile ostile – limited LP ( oi meets hardcore in erode style with unpc lyrics)
- Drieu – Solito stile ostile – CD (last copies of the cd version of the same)
- The rita – Correlation DVD (the videos I helped with for Sam's 7" on antipatik)
The ERE label will be on hold for an indefinite time so will not be trading (not even for personal copies) until new big batch of releases will be made available

Looking forward to the Balkan Delights tapes. The Private Venus CD was designed very nicely and aesthetically pleasing thanks to Phage Tapes. Definitely one of my favorite CD releases this year.

thanks, I am going very slow due to family issues, but everything is confirmed. the next 3 works will be the wrth reissue, the tavola anatomica and then balkan delights who is completely recorded and 90% mixed but visuals are taking ages because I changed ideas 20 times. Thanks!
