KNIVES - Violent Distillation CD (OR187)

KNIVES was a short lived collab between Phil Blankenship (The Cherry Point / Troniks) and Jonathan Borges (Pedestrian Deposit / Monorail Trespassing) concentrated to the year 2005. The discography is quite small, considering the times and the two people involved. It was only a single sided 7" and three C10 tapes. That's it. All four releases out in 2005. And then nothing. That didn't sit well with me - especially not after getting my hands on the "Empty Desire" tape and the 7" "Switchblade Princess" - this was a perfect harsh noise project. Minimal in the approach as it is static and churning, but layered with details, and textures that crash and mutilate into a cacophony of harsh noise supremacy.

Ominous Recordings is proud to present the KNIVES discography "Violent Distillation," collecting the tracks from the Switchblade Princess 7", the tapes Cemetery Girls, Empty Desire and KNIVES vs. KNIVES, as well as a audio recording of a live performance at The Smell in 2005. Eight tracks of harsh noise perfection, masterfully remastered by Grant Richardson.

"Phil Blankenship's THE CHERRY POINT and Jon Borges' PEDESTRIAN DEPOSIT were both pinnacle examples of that was happening in Southern California. THE CHERRY POINT was laying the primary foundations of a 'contemporary' way to bury the listener in layers of crumble, the subtly different lines of HN studied, held, immersive, but also moving at a rate where the peaks and valleys crackle into each other. PEDESTRIAN DEPOSIT was a display of vicious mastery, cuts into harsh sound avalanches that disturbed the listener via sheer auditory volume with an incredibly sincere analysis of the different crumble and crackle lines and how they could strike each other." - Sam McKinlay

CD in 4-panel digipack. Limited edition of 200 copies.
