Quote from: theotherjohn on September 26, 2012, 08:53:35 PMIf you like This Is Spinal Tap, be sure to see Christopher Guest's other improvisational films; Waiting for Guffman, Best In Show, A Mighty Wind - they're all riotously funny. Fred Willard's characters especially kill me everytime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D421N6xlisg

This outfit are breathtakingly brilliant really - if you look at the outtakes on the DVDs they are just as great as the movies. Amazing improvisational work.

I may be wrong on this, but wasn't Peter Sotos briefly involved in his youth with Chicago's 'Second City' troupe? In a way this underground comedy scene is comparable to underground music. A crew of wonderful eccentric individuals.

Fred Willard arrest details - http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/fred-willard-arrested-lewd-conduct-porn-theater-embarrassing-hell-article-1.1123550 - he seems to have talked himself out of the trouble in a very charming fashion.

Disorganized Crime (1989)

Haven't seen this in ages, but remember it to be both funny and stupid. This was way back when the tv series LA LAW was king.

Some random quotes:

Movies which i still like are all Monty Python's movies, Marx Bros' Duck Soup and Blake Edwards' The Party (Greatest ending for a movie ever)

Movies which i'm bored with them are some outdated ones such as any Leslie Nielsen's films, Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men With Tights and Dracula: Dead and i love it (especially the last one was awful), Top Secret, Airplane, Johnny English (What's the purpose of a sequel? Seriously...) and many others.

I could see again Police Academy series for only two reasons: Michael Winslow + Leslie Easterbrook

When i look on today's spoof and parody movies, really can't stand them (Scary Movies etc.)

This is one of my fav comedy shows. The main character is way beyond social norms and values, w a ego that don't fit in any hat plus a high degree of narcism and possibly an edge of sociopath tendencies as well. In other words check it out!

The Heart She Holler is a shamelessly gruesome gothic soap opera, which I can imagine appealing highly to fans of melodramatic trash auteurs such as John Waters and George Kuchar. Shades of the most disturbing elements of Twin Peaks abound as well, but done in a really camp and casual way. PFFR rule!

I'm almost done watching the second season...it's incredible that something this completely insane is actually broadcast on TV. PFFR stuff is great and usually pretty wacky, but The Heart She Holler has got to be the biggest mindfuck of them all. Glad to see they brought Amy Sedaris aboard for this season, she was great on Strangers With Candy and somehow manages to be even more repulsive in this role.

PFFR stuff is a lot like other Adult Swim stuff...very odd alternative comedy that caters to stoned people. Except PFFR stuff is entertaining, as opposed to Tim & Eric which is just irritating. I do like Check it Out with Dr. Steve Brule, though.

I should be working but have been spending ages watching clips from Snuff Box. I love this scene so much - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vGkgC_5Ppo

I wish Christopher Lee really did do porno, 'cause that would be comedy gold!

That would be amazing! I presume he would do abduct/rape films? Yes?

Snuff Box is really good. Highly recommended! Skilled actors, fun script.
