Nicolas Ballet - Shock Factory (588 pages)

This book aims to introduce the visual and aesthetic elements of industrial culture to a general history of contemporary art by analysing the different approaches taken and topics addressed by the primary protagonists of the movement.

Now this is a tome that seems mandatory, although with a price tag as heavy as its content...

L'ETRANGER newsletter
This is radio show in Belgium. Every second Sunday on Radio Panik. They publish A5 newsletter that usually has playlists, but extra artwork and such. Now latest one I got, is A5/20 pages, almost a zine. Besides playlists of show, it has artwork, photos and 4 pages of album reviews. Don't know how exactly you get copies of this, but at least if you happened to send them some promo stuff, its likely they send you these.

While browsing the link to post here, I noticed there's old interview still online:

DN.AIDEATH – SNAKE PIT (CD, Tesco)

The second release from this Indonesian project. Quite a special sound on this one, not the classic "Heavy electronics" even though it probably falls into that category. Lots of distorted synths, muffled voices and sounds buried in the mix. Some tracks might be a bit anonymous and forgettable, but the good ones are in the majority. Strong album. Also be sure to check out the debut tape on de/tainment, all good stuff.

GENERAL SOUND DISCUSSION / Re: GENOCIDE ORGAN

Not sure if this was covered here yet, but as I am listening to "Death Zones" once again I am wondering what kind of synths G.O. are currently using.

I think with "Under Kontrakt" the sound had changed, it is a obvious contrast to the albums that came before. Now G.O. uses sharper, at times metallic timbre, crisp, focused throbbing, almost nothing resembling the lower fidelity of older material. Many of the synth lines used nowadays don't seem to come from the good old MS-20. I like the new direction, G.O. sounds colder and more "clinical" now.

So does anyone know what exactly they've been using recently? Or is it still the same stuff?

GENERAL SOUND DISCUSSION / Re: YLEINEN NOISE FIILISTELY S...
Last post by FreakAnimalFinland - August 28, 2025, 10:17:33 AM

Noise is a small scene. If it wasn't I would say I may live in my small bubble meaning I know, I have learned who to 'follow' , what to read, who to 'spy' , who has good recommendations, etc. and I won't spend time to check everything I see mentioned as good. But such a niche, we all are in the same bubble. And what I have noticed is that 'social hype' is almost always [?] correct in noise, pretty much like democracy will work for a small clever community.

Sure, there is excellent noise that hasn't any hype and that I consider better than the best-sellers. But I can't think any artist with hype in noise that actually sucks.

So it's just development of personal taste. Not versus social hype necessarily.
