Well, my morning with CD1 of Grunt-Gelsomina is just lovely.

I sense a more "deliberate", wall-ish sound than CD2. CD2 was "looser", if that makes any sense?

Next time I do the correct order. That will flow even better.

And there will be many next times!

I think I did fuck up some infos on this double CD edition. Not the first time noticing something weird after all things have been pressed.
I am sure people will figure out what is what, but logic of naming is... if I remember correctly, was that if it says Grunt/Gelsomina it means Grunt working with Gelsomina sources. Gelsomina/Grunt means Gelsomina working with Grunt sources.
Now out of town and no access to actual physical item. 2xCD edition is almost gone. I would think less than 10 remains, so unlikely this will be available for long time.

Grunt/Cloama CD finally sold out. All in all 800+ copies means it is unlikely to be repressed anymore.

Thanks for clarifying. It's pretty much what I assumed anyway.

(Disc 1: Grunt Gelsomina 1-3, Gelsomina Grunt 6-9. No word on 4-5!

Disc 2: Grunt Gelsomina 1-3, 8. Gelsomina Grunt 4-7.)

Yeah, so track 1-3 = GRUNT/GELSO, 4-9 was Gelso/Grunt
disc 2 is accurate info.

I think I probably mentioned it already, old collaboration was largely assembled on computer. 2025 collaboration of my part, were part of the more recent releases where idea was to do something else, with gear I never used for albums and rejecting gear I "always use". This collaboration was one of the absolute simplest things, gear consisting nothing besides source sound, mixer and and couple cables.

Thank you so much for this amplifying info. It's a rare thing when the artist involved is so available and forthcoming. Much appreciated.

Quote from: Minus1 on January 20, 2026, 05:16:11 AMMy maiden Grunt voyage continues today with Richard Ramirez / Grunt – Modern Beliefs.

It's cool how this starts with Ramirez, then it shifts to collabs, then ends with Grunt.

Ramirez certainly has a sense of humour, given the voice samples in track 1.

This is a Concept Album, innit?

The first 2 (Ramirez) tracks serve as a kind of warmup.

Then all hell breaks loose on the collabs. A whirlwind.

And then finally, Grunt (track 5) makes himself heard in an eerie, junk-noise piece.

I really enjoyed the arc of this album. It's almost quaint at first, then a harsh middle, then a powerful, spacious ending.

Yeah, on my second spin, this is a strange yet fascinating thing. We start with sex ads, the Clintons, The Enquirer, (trash!), etc, and end with
serious / dark Grunt. A whirlwind occurs in the middle. This collab brings forth many emotions for me: Laughter! Awe!! Wtf!!! 😂

I'd love to know if this arc was intentional / preplanned.

I love it!

This is so old one, that trying to remember everything exactly, is hard, yet I am under impression I had actually invited Ramirez to do 10" vinyl on FA. That is possible. There was few 10"s done before actual 12" happened on FA. One side great, other side at the time didn't feel so great. Proposition was changed, what if there was RR/Grunt collab LP. Both having solo material, but I'd work some collaboration pieces out of RR sounds of the less exciting track. This CD reissue is not only LP "as is", since there was no master tapes existing anymore. It has both of the original RR songs that he submitted (also the one that didn't appear on LP), and the collaboration and Grunt material is new mix-down from 4-track tapes. They are as close as possible to LP, using LP audio as reference for channel volumes and so on. Just had to do new mixdown as the original master was never returned from pressing plant.

Talking about attempts to remember what exactly was going on 30 years ago or even in recent times:

After Finnish Noisecast did interview of Grunt, in finnish, there were quite many people asking for subtitles / translation. Too much work in such thing. Instead, the boss of Noisecast decided to proceed doing more episodes in English. Recently there has been interviews with L.White/Sektion C, Human Larvae and more. Both very much recommended.
This new interview covers pretty tightly Grunt. Not label, distro, zines, scene history or such, but pretty much exclusively Grunt. Regardless of keeping it focused on just one thing, episode became quite long and is therefore published in three parts. Unedited casual and slow paced discussion.
Episode starts with Mika reporting from last weekend's noise gig at Joensuu. Interview was conducted previous night.
Parts 2 and 3 will follow.
