Aeoga - Obsidian Outlander (2017)

Great mini-album.  Has some fantastic sounds.  Upon first listen, has some tonality that reminds me of Voice of Eye.  Made me drift into a few different climates.

I think it's not "mini album", merely length is reflecting fact that it is first LP release of label, and with this length sound could be best quality. Quite accurately 30 minutes is just good for album for me. 20 mins feels like mini. Of course in context of 70+ minutes ambient CD's it may feel half of the normal?

Length plays key role why this must be among my listened ambient/industrial/ritual albums of 2017 for me.

This has been my turntable for some days. Probably 5 times later, I can conclude few things. If talking loosely about category consisting Dark ritual/drone/ambient/etc etc, it is not mandatory to put out double albums. Not even hour long albums. Not even 40 mins! This LP, is barely 30 minutes and I have ended up listening it several times each day.
Because length is half an hour, and there are six tracks, it is not merely some flowing abstract sound stream. Without becoming music in conventional underderstanding, it still makes songs. Slow eerie guitar tones, dark and noble almost soundtrack-esque synth tones, rhythmic loops of chains or other objects. Analogue synth pulsations, church organs... and so on.. It is hard to just call it "drone" or "ambient" as it neither one. Also lumping into vast category of "ritual music" hardly does justice, as while it may be that - it is more. It is clearly not product of simple drugged jam or easy routines hidden under neat aesthetics, but most of all artistic perfection! I'm quite sure at this point, that this Aeoga album is becoming my favorite Aural Hypnox release so far!
I'm pretty sure label saw the strength of it, since this was first ever vinyl release of the legendary label! Also published as CD, though. Essential album. Also, when listened after the above mentioned cd, there is such a drastic difference in audio alchemy. This album doesn't have singly crappy sound to it. Any approach in sound it look for, they come up with greatest results.

Aural Holograms - Vol. I 2007 -  not quite sure why, but this stood out as being different than other releases on the label while also with signature Aural Hypnox organics and instrumentation - eerie, gloomy ambient with an ever-so-slight sountracky feel that isn't cheesy or contrived - darn good album and maybe something for the Halloween spirit, or at least had me thinking of the darkening fall season - it's too bad they only have this one release - something Nature & Arty about this too.

QuoteTemplum N.R. - Magnetic Breath – The Possession, C-20
€12.00
2nd edition now available! Beyond the veils of flesh, from nightmare wombs and Otherworlds, the Magnetic Breath finds you and calls you to listen. The unfurling ancient frequencies and thrumming pulses are once again churning their electric currents through Nightside channels. Burning deep in darkness; the distant, alien wails sow poison and the repetitive, divine dreams infect the unfolding maze of mind's innate luminosity.

Listened couple of times, and this project keeps expanding in style. Narration is eerie, with proper english, text that takes pretty much entire sides to go through. Music is quite dramatic and should I say... hi-tech? It is not so much of gongs and minimal drones and such, but something one could pretty much categorize into "synth music", despite musical patterns are still far from being "normal music" so to say. I'd still assume that this tape would be among easiest to digest for those who come from synth music and try to approach the minimalist ritual sounds. Here you got melodies, even heavy electronic beats and such.

From this project, my absolute favorite is:

Just received and listened twice today. Continually narrowing palette of sounds mentioned in description fits in perfectly. This is musical enough that perhaps some people into "keyboard music" could get into it. Despite it is really just 2 or 3 tones that shift in slow pace, rather than "composed music" in traditional sense. They got the dusty quality there, some tape hiss from analogue recording/gear, that puts Aural Hypnos stuff nicely outside the typical sterile software synth stuff.

QuoteHalo Manash - Par-Antra II: TAA, CD
With great excitement Aural Hypnox presents the new, long awaited work of Halo Manash entitled "Par-Antra II: TAA". This elemental, five-fold gateway has been under work for the past five years and it leads into the second greater cycle of the Halo Manash's lifespan. During the years in making the continually narrowing palette of sounds has been transformed into a powerful substance and even one spoonful of it contains all that is needed to push an attentive listener towards the interaction with the magnetic, elemental current and into profound conversation with the Great Watcher.

Phenol

The new Halo Manash is brilliant, as always with those guys. The way simple sounds and melodies swirl around each other creates a genuinely haunting and ritualistic atmosphere which is also very organic and quite often beautiful as well.
