With Boiling Point he has stripped off all the excess meat and flare, letting just the essential bones rattle on their own. Even more so on Intent, and it’s all the more rich for it. With a few tape loops and chugging drones he rides the sounds, searching with confidence, having them fight and knock eachother out in a dank roomy speculumfightish ambience. And it is in the midlate nineties work of Damion Romero one finds the closest relative to what Philip does here, but his decisive shifts and sudden castling moves puts Boiling Point in a position of its own.
