Despite these artists' undeniable impact, it's striking how little attention the releases on Harsh Ways Syndicate have received. Like their earlier release this year on Harsh Ways Syndicate, this particular box set has been met with near silence across the usual channels.
Sometimes, I wonder:
- Is music merely a popularity contest, or are people genuinely more interested in exploring sound itself?
I firmly place myself in the second category. Music isn't about algorithms, trending artists, or what garners the most streams. It's about the raw and unfiltered experience of sound. This box set serves as a reminder that year-end "releases of the year" lists often fail to adequately capture the true breadth of the experimental scene. These lists tend to reflect what garners the most rotation rather than offering a comprehensive overview of the genre.
