Happy to announce the release of Violent Shogun's album "Brittle". A fantastic work which you can read more about below.
"This is not your usual Violent Shogun" was my initial thought after hearing the opening track. But then what is? Besides the inventive soundwork itself, what also distinguishes Violent Shogun is the restless movement. No release is the other one alike, yet if we look at the project as a whole, the dots sure do connect. Brittle sees Remi pull in the reins, slowing things down considerably yet with increased almost musical tension. That sleep deprivation is listed as one of the "tools" quickly makes perfect sense. This is an album that takes place in a haunting wakeful state, soaked in cold sweat, balancing on the border to sleep. The sounds – tape loops, modular synth, distant rattling and broken acoustic instrumentation – all seem to occur just out of full perception's reach, no matter how far off or close, slowly swaying 'til the truly blissful ending. Brittle stands as Violent Shogun's most intricate, thorough and moving work yet." - Erik Nystrand
