Wilt's lost opus 'Mold The Earth' arrives on CD at last and R4 returns with 'Repulser'

Scarecrow electronics wizard James P. Keeler aka Wilt's 2001 earth sounds opus "Mold The Earth" has finally arrived on compact disc. This was an album Fusion Audio Recordings had planned to release 20+ years ago in the wake of early Wilt classics "Amidst A Spacious Fabric" and "Wither," but it was shelved and nearly lost forever when the label went on an unexpected and decades-long dormancy. The master disc was found in 2022 and returned to the artist, who put it out digitally last year as part of a commemoration of 25 years of Wilt.

While we regret that it was left in limbo for so long, FAR couldn't be more pleased to present "Mold The Earth" in the format it deserves -- glass-mastered CD in a six-panel digipack with new artwork by Keeler. The visuals have been updated from the cover design that never saw the light of day, but the sounds remain true to the original concept. Crafted from field recordings and elements including wood, rock, dirt, metal and water with additional sounds provided by Steve Brand (ex-Augur), J. Benham and Jeph Jerman (Hands To), "Mold The Earth" is a mix of haunting ambience and natural textures.

Also now shipping is a double dose from experimental sound art creator R4. The label founder and FAR flagship artist's "Repulser" is a two-disc set of droning ambient noise in the vein of the sounds found on a pair of mini CDRs he put out in 2022. It's the first full-length solo album from R4 since 2001, and with track titles such as "How To Spend a Weekend In Mariupol" and "Feeding a Misinformation Loop," he makes a passive aggressive comment on recent world events but otherwise lets the tone-generating circuitry do the talking. "Repulser" is a 2xCDR in a digipack lite limited to 100 copies.
