The Shiver of the Vampires by Jean Rollin (1971)
Fun working through these films.
Living Dead Girl was good and much darker, but I enjoyed Shiver more. All of Rollin's films are generally vampire-based horror movies with a lot of sexually charged elements. Lots of nude scenes and lesbian relationships.
Very schlocky and very fun. There are a lot of very cool sets and imagery in this one. Great cemetery scenes, skulls, crosses, all the classics. I thought many still shots from this movie would make, or have maybe made, good album covers.
Very silly kind of 60s psychedelic hippie elements. Much more surreal, and the plot doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but the rest of the film completely makes up for it. The main female vampire, Isolde, makes some amazing and hilarious entrances through graves, grandfather clocks, chimneys, etc. The whole thing is set in a cool old castle.
Very of its time and very fun.
