Debut tape of new Lithuanian two head project.
LAPOT is an old Serbian tradition of senicide - killing elderly family
members, performed by their younger relatives, although the entire village
was invited to attend. The ritual was carried out either by stoning, or
killing with an axe or a stick.
The idea for a Lithuanian noise project carrying the same titles was being
developed over a span of 8 years, although it started an active musical
work only recently, recording its first album over October-November
months.
All the previous records of the activity were either destroyed or lost.
The fundament of the project is built manipulating common everyday sounds:
trains passing, stones, cracking of a tree, highway, the flow of the
water, fire, factories, construction plants, old building ruins etc. It's
everything one can hear, but usually does not listen as it's too familiar
and obvious.
New sounds are born in the manipulation sessions by Lapot, after a
merciless destruction and deformation of field recordings made.
That's the circle of life - the new and the young take place of the old
ones, the stronger ones win over the weak. The most important though is
the process of change itself. Never-ending motion and evolution under the
mask of monolith cracked sound wall.
