Four new releases from the Tasmanian winter.

Diagram: A Eraser_Fill_Show C-35
For mine, Dan Greenwood stands as one of the truly under-appreciated purveyors of America's seething, productive, enduring, '90s noise/industrial cassette scene. His work as Diagram: A, as well as with Proof Of The Shooting, stands out from the legions in all aspects: content, consistency, and presentation. So it is with great pleasure that I deliver up Eraser_Fill_Show, the close-up picture and splatter of an out-of-control orgy of mechanics and rusted machinery, all the time teetering on entropic collapse. This is another releases in my run of specially packaged cassettes, its packaging a small tribute to the Sound Probe Label which was home to Diagram: A and Proof Of The Shooting. Eraser_Fill_Show comes in a handmade and artworked box then slathered in layers of tinted latex and fishing wire: an ugly and retrogressive presentation for audio material of precisely those same attributes. Limited to 50 copies.

K2 Junk-A-Tohgenkyo CD
This CD closes K2's second chapter which, through almost two decades, littered the noise world with some of the brightest, most bewildering, and most dangerous metal junks-infused noise imaginable. Junk-A-Tohgenkyo bookends that era of K2, following the 'Target To Nowhere' and 'Brainwash Education' CDRs on Cipher and Tochnit Aleph respectively, with a collection of the project's final three live shows each staged in mid 2003. First, a solo set at Tokyo's legendary 20000V aptly titled "The Last Metal Storm". Second, a lengthy collaborative track with those titans of noise, the one and only Incapacitants, again at 20000V. Third, a less abrasive and utterly intriguing collaboration with Yukinori Kukichi (Billy?) served up at Tokuzo in Nagoya. Each track is a room recording, capturing all the eagerness, pressure, volume and weld sparks of the event. This CD must be played LOUD for true effect. Pro-pressed CD, digipack, edition of 250 copies.

Keränen As Below So Above C-35
Wherever Tommi Keränen goes, he leaves devastation behind. Whether it's with his duo Testicle Hazard, under his nom de noise Rulla or now under his own name, his discography reads as a history of finessed, quality, but most of all enjoyable harsh noise electronics. As Below So Above compiles two live sets from Helsinki. The first is a gee-up of the noise faithful in the Erratic Sporadicism bunker, breaks in the assault provoking catcalls for further shrapnel, while the second is a tactical takedown of a less expecting audience at Helsinki Music Centre, their heads torn off by a shiveringly violent barrage which leaves the surviving politely applauding as they retreat in fear. Covers are silver silkscreen on black card. 70 copies.

Brume Quicksand C-70
Another unique embrace of post-industrial deviation and technique from Christian Renou. From austere to timbral, minimalist to grand in gesture, gentle to confronting, Quicksand covers signifiant territory without ever feeling hurried. Christian is the master of mood and transition, and Quicksand only builds on his reputation. I had initially asked Christian to consider wworking in the spirit of his previous cassette works, but he's done me one better by maintaining their mood and grit while seen through the technique and execution his experience now brings. Another in my series of specially packaged tapes, Quicksand comes inside a screenprinted bag of sand (yes, the tape is protected and playable). Limited to 100 copies.
