I know Iam a bit late to the party but which part of San Diego have you moved to?

XTORSOX

Living in La Jolla right now. Not much noise found yet.

I spent one nice day in San Diego in April 2003. I walked around the downtown shopping area and everyone looked like zombies. Then I saw a sign saying 'artist's yard sale this way' and eventually wandered into some nice Deadhead artist guy's place who was moving to Spain because San Diego was full of suburban zombies. I bought a painting from him which his friend had done - or tried to, he wouldn't accept any money because he thought it was cool that I told him I was taking it back to the UK and hanging it on my wall. The painting is on this record cover - http://www.discogs.com/Ceramic-Hobs-Celebrating-20-Years-Of-Mental-Illness/release/1840427

Then caught the trolley bus down to San Ysidro and the bridge over to Tijuana. Had a great few hours over there drinking very cheap booze, dodging beggar children and taxi drivers wanting to kidnap and rob me. The waxworks were excellent - full of Mexican revolutionaries no-one has heard of! It was easy to walk over there but quite a wait getting back into the USA as you can imagine. Then a comfortable Amtrak journey down the beautiful coastline back to where I was staying in LA. There's my San Diego story anyway.

There's the occasional hipster/art noise show but not much for real power electronics. I'm in San Diego, as well as Mr. Unit 731. Might be a few shows in the area in 2013, in the summer...

As for record stores, there are a few that carry the more popular artists (Throbbing Gristle, Prurient, etc.) but you'll have a better selection at Vacation Vinyl, which is up in the LA area.
