Physicality in Noise

I'm posting this because I'm currently writing an essay on noise and want at some point to deal with the importance of physicality and the body.

Given how different noise tends to be from a lot of other music it seems to me that it is often valued on the level of a visceral, physical experience, where one can hear and feel sounds as tangible effects on the body

I'm interested in all matters of physicality in noise.  How important is this aspect to you in the creation and experience of your work and others?

How much does some engagement with or stimulation of physical sensation inform the ways you value noise? a lot? not at all?  How much of a key value would you say this is in noise as a whole?

Be very grateful and interested to hear your thoughts.

What is physicality? Doing stuff with hardware and not software? using sounds of objects?

What Levas mentioned can be simple topics for your essay :)
And of course: physical releases vs. digital

Sorry, I should have been clearer.

Though really any kind of thoughts will be useful, I mean in terms of listening and feeling rather than any kind of means of making it.

For example live performance; is it important to be able to feel the sound in your body? if so, does this translate into a reason why you listen to and enjoy noise?

When you listen to noise that you enjoy do you find it to satisfy visceral, physical experiences or is it something more that engages the brain and ears? (I do of course understand that to some extent ALL of this is physical!)

Sorry if this is vague, if you need more clarification let me know.

I'll edit the first post.

I enjoy the physicality that some noise invokes, but I wouldn't say I need it to enjoy it.  If it's ultra low frequency stuff that rattles the house, I like to listen loud and experience it, but again, it's not a pre-requisite to enjoying it.  I'd say the same for all music though.

Live is different, I definitely want to feel something live.  Especially noise in which some performances can be lacking, unless that's part of the show of course, having your stomach rattled by the waves is part of the fun.

Most noise I listen to is on headphones, so I'm immersed aurally, but it's hard to listen to it at levels that would induce any other feeling like that.  It'd just be far too loud.

Oh, sorry for not checking.

The thing I'm asking about is a bit different though.  Seems like that thread is about responding physically, dancing etc while I'm asking more about the physicality of the experience itself.  Thanks a lot for the link though.
