What do you think about handnumbered limited edition cd's & vinyls?

For me it depends on release. If it's something handmade and special, hand numbering each copy appears just fine. For normal bulk items, I don't see much point. And even less, when it's not really limited, but pressed more later on.
I think that amount of releases that are limited to small number is so huge amount, it's no longer functioning as any sort of selling point for labels as it used to be. Which used to be reason for most labels to announce size of pressing.

So in end, I'm much more interested is it GOOD, than how many was made. Can't lure me with "This is ltd 55, buy before too late" kind of things.

Handmade stuff can actually decrease the production value of stuff and still make each unique. For example recently when I released this

I went to a discount army store and purchased the manual from a tank for like 3 dollars. So you can make like 100 copies from that. If it sells do a repress later or just go buy another old manual.

Of course some the stuff I have seen where the items can double as furniture, or whatever I think is quite silly. If the art eclipses the music then why do the music?

in regards to limitations, the uber buy me now nonsense is a huge turnoff for me. I can understand that collectors may want "something more" but considering that the version that is "something more" is the only version people will usually buy (as there is no resell value in the other version) it just furthers the cycle, IMO. Hand numbering stuff I used to do with tapes until I realized that it just makes your wrist hurt and has no real valid purpose then to be another thing that just eclipses the music.

I've met reasoned people with other schools of thought however.

Personally when it comes to DIY releases I usually do unlimited/however many I can be bothered to do rather than numbered editions but i can't say it bothers me. I'm not as much of a record collector nerd as most of you guys probably are tho hah. :)
