I have a few of his releases from here and there and wouldn't consider myself an expert on whether he has distinct "eras" of his massive output, but I've always enjoyed The Fires of the Borderlands, which was from the same period as Tin of Drum and has a lot of similarities, very engaging soundscapes that evoke feelings of sitting around a fire in the distant past. Interestingly, while you could call it "tribal," he does all on that album that with very minimal use of beats, which is atypical of a lot of his other work.
