Thanks for the heads up... didn't know this one, I was intrigued by the name and gave "You're welcome here" a spin. Incredible stuff.

Quote from: Penon on February 11, 2025, 10:04:21 AMPosh Isolation had a huge impact on me but yes, their U-turn meant there was less and less stuff that I enjoyed over time. However, because of quality of early releases, I kept checking each and every release of theirs as they were coming out until last day, in a hope that something "old school" would pop up. But it stopped popping up 6-7 years ago.

Going through first half of Posh Isolation journey, there are a lot of modern noise / power eleectronics classics. Many projects involved two label founders, many didn't. Damien Dubrovnik, Puce Mary, LR, F. E. Denning, Vanity Productions, Forza Albino etc. All very industrial. They even did a tape of Kommando R.J.F.
The first release I came across was Port Out, Starboard Home 2xTape compilation (2012). It has a lot of the above names some songs already hint at the direction of travel for the future, but mainly industrial / noise.

Then they turned into experimental electronics in mid-2010s. It was still weird, and noisy, and atonal. Check out I Could Go Anywhere But Again I Go With You (2017) digital compilation to get a sense. Still really good.

But after that they seemed to turn the label and roster into this very unique combination of alternative rave, and post-rave detox chillout music. Unfortunately, this is not of interest for me, and not sure if change of direction contributed to their exit or unrelated. From the outside it looked like they had an incredibly loyal following with this new direction, so news are kind of a surprise.

Discogs comments to "I Could Go Anywhere But Again I Go With You" are hilarious by the way. I will jsut copy and paste them here.

I will save you some time. This is a hit and miss comp (as most are), but the bad is pretty bad. Obviously this review is my opinion, and yours may differ.

Standouts and worth the purchase alone: Puce Mary and Soho. Puce Mary's contribution here is solid as always. Soho and Frederik's collaboration is just beautiful. I may/may not have cried during several of the dozens of times I have listened to it.

Worthwhile: Oil XL. Scandinavian Star. Internazionale. Vanessa Amara. Mini Esco. Kyo. Why Be & Organ Tapes. Varg.

Good for a listen or two but not much more: Panxing. Age Coin. Brynje. Yde Girl. White Armor. Vanity Productions. Astrid Sonne. Severin. An Gella.

Don't care if I ever hear again: Minais B. Flora. Casimir.

Embarrassed to have spent even 60 seconds listening: Khalil. This is probably one of the worst projects in the scene right now. Khalil is what happens when you run a label, and will let any of your friends put their project on it. Even the ones that have zero talent. This is garbage 14 year-old aspiring hip-hop artists put out. Gr8st? Yeah.... I was 14 once too.

Mostly amateurish contributions with the occasional garbage autotune-loaded track here on this compilation, with adored longstanding and established mainstays in-between. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come, but I think it is. It seems the appeal to draw in the hipster teenage club kids and the money they have potential to bring is taking over.

Worth the purchase for the mainstays. You should be paid to listen to the rest. Especially Khalil. I threw up a little in my mouth listening to that track.

One of these songs is not like the others. Two if you count Flora (music isn't that bad though). Gross.

My first real introduction to Posh Isolation as a label, I've listened to a bit of Varg before but that's about it.

Comes off as mostly pretentious and amateur 'art school kid' ambient/experimental/noise music. Have to agree with the review below. 'One Of My Shades' definitely one of the standout tracks. I feel like this compilation could've been edited down to about 10-12 great tracks. An example of quality over quantity.
