Dear friends!
A couple of new releases from the Russian underground.
DMT "Ultimatum" CD [ltd. 300]
DMT "Ultimatum" is the second album in
"Die Zeichen" series run by
kultFRONT and
ZHELEZOBETON labels. The first part was released in 2013 -
Sal Solaris "Die Scherben 2004-2010". The new album is a tribute to
Dmitriy Tolmatskiy who unexpectedly left us in 2009. Dmitriy was one of the few journalists who popularized the alternative culture in Russia. In late 90-ies he created the web portal
RWCDAX and his famous
"Industrial Culture Extended FAQ" which unveiled previously unknown layers of post-industrial art for many Russians.
"Ultimatum" shows the varied musical and stylistical planes of
DMT. It mainly consists of compositions never officially released before, taken from CDRs which Dmitriy gave to his friends. There are also a few tracks from the compilations he had time to participate. Unfortunately not always were there notes and years of recordings. One track was digitized from an untitled audiocassette kept by the musician's friends in his native city of Saratov. The album provides a glimpse into various periods of
DMT's sonic experiments from 1999 to 2008. It also features fragments of a live performance together with
Alexei Borisov in St. Petersburg in December 2005.
For bandcamp users there is a
bonus archive of three compositions. One remix by
DMT of the
Species Of Fishes track. One remix of
DMT track by the
Ghost Reflection project. And an extended version of the title track from the unreleased album
"Cold Autumn in Belgrade" recorded in 2000.
The artwork is done by the famous visual artist and media philosopher
Oleg 'cmart' Paschenko (

After the reissue of the eponymous debut
Kshatriy album last year we're glad to present you his second work, recorded in 2006 and equally little known. Back then
"Mushrooms..." was spread among friends and fans in a very limited number of copies and then remained unavailable for the wider audience for a long time.
As the author says, this album is a magical journey consisting of nine pieces which emerged from the intuitive contemplation of the most secret levels of consciousness dissolved in space. Those who are familiar with
Kshatriy's sound will hear his trademark features, but overall this album sounds more experimental than his later works. Instead of dense flows of thick cosmic ambience space is filled with weird abstract forms and flickering electronic collages. Psychedelic atmosphere, psychoactive sound. Remastered by the author in 2015
The physical release is made on quality pro-CDRs in an edition of 77 copies in a sleeve of designer black cardboard.

The 25th release by the
kultFRONT label is a live concert split by the exemplary dark ambient projects from Russia and Italy,
Reutoff and
Bad Sector respectively. The show took place in the very late autumn of 2014 in St. Petersburg, Russia. The venue initially planned for this event was suddenly shut down and the show was urgently and successfully moved to one of the best clubs for this kind of music - The Place. Also from a technical point of view the concert was flawless so all musicians agreed to publish it. This fact is remarkable because "21.11.14" is the first live release in
Reutoff's longstanding history. And in fact the first live album for
Bad Sector in its 20 years of existence. The earlier "live" release by
Bad Sector was
"Xela" published in Russia 14 years ago (
Waystyx 01, 2001), however it doesn't really meet the criteria of a "live album". It featured studio materials prepared especially for one of the early live shows of
Bad Sector.
The
Reutoff side consists of live versions of compositions from the
"ZugZwang IV", "Eigengrau", "No One's Lullabies" albums and some unreleased material.
The
Bad Sector side includes live versions of tracks from
"Storage Disk 2", "Reset / Rebis Periferiche", "Unification", "Kosmodrom" and "Dolmen Factory".
The album is published in a very limited edition of 75 white cassettes. A symbolic glance in the past, as both projects had their first recordings on cassettes too. This release is not planned to be distributed on other media or digitally.
Exclusive distribution –
ZHELEZOBETON.
