https://www.mixcloud.com/Otomo_Hava/guests-from-chaos-14-cory-strand/Cory Strand's a guitarist, noise and drone composer, remixer, sound deconstructionist and owner/operator of Altar Of Waste Records from Minneapolis, primarily interested in extremely long form and epic compositions. Much of his work focuses on films and reimaginings/deconstructions of their soundtracks, as well as forays into pop culture and black metal approximation.
This mix serves as something of an overview of Cory's noise and ambient work and revels in glacial synth textures as well as spots of harsh noise extremity. The only other artist included is Wendy Carlos, whom Cory cites as a profound influence (though remnants of other source materials will sometimes peak out through the murk and shimmer). Hopefully the pieces here find some sort of meeting point between terror and beauty, calm and anxiety, maximalism and minimalism.
