My favourite band. Eerie low-pace sound drudgery at the end of the earth.

A few years back, I think 2012 or 2013? shortly before the desist of relapse of Release The Bats there was some talk about re-releasing their first and second LP on CD. Now of course Release the Bats is not with us anymore since then and Ättestupa is not very active, it seems to be slim chance the CD ever will come out. Can someone tell me I am wrong?

I completely agree on Ättestupa being totally great, but unfortunately I don't have any info on the re-releases you talk about.
However, My favourite of theirs must be Musik för tomma rum, which is still available (I think?) through Järtecknet. Love their dark melodic senses.

Have you listened the Viktor Ottosson black metal (kind of) project Niding, which has similar kind of melodics? Not as great as Ättestupa, but kind of great all the same.

R.i.p Release the Bats.

Niding is good too! Same murky and depressing vibe, like an aftermath of a drunk BM session.

Best release I don't know, but the split with Alfarmania is killer, or killing. Now only to find it at a decent price.

Grübelschlinge

Have that Niding tape on PI for sale!

'd love to see some new releases from Ättestupa. Anyone know it they still play?
Haven't kept updated on their live schedules or whatever lately...

I don't think they are active anymore but I might be wrong. I enjoyed the last album a lot, where the "folk/bm"-inspiration had went astray, but then again I didn't like the early stuff much either.

A friend once put Ättestupa on with both of us hungover. Sounded genuinely discomforting.

Fun fact: according to Ior Bock (Finnish hippie mystic/crazy fucker), an "ättestupa" is a verge of a cliff, designated to a certain family, from where the old decrepit commit suicide by jumping.
