Happened to wander in possibly biggest boostore in Shinjuku/Tokyo, and noticed series of books by someone called Takato Yamamoto. Didn't know his work before, but hesitated zero moments to grab anything what was available. I don't know if more exists, but 5 hardcover books in slipcases. Very elegant packaging and each slipcase has die-cut hole in front exposing the book inside. Book hardcover with special canvas and embossed prints etc.
Inside, one is surpriced to see that these are actually digitally printed. But quality is great. Slightly shining surface typical for digi print, but the sharpness, colors, level of black and solid surfaces are excellent.
His art is very delicate, very "old school". Realistic, romantic, but dark and violent. Abusive and surreal. I guess his works are scanned & distributed in some blogs who specialize in grotesque japanese comics. But to remind, these aren't comic. Very very detailed images full of microscopic textures can please eye for long.
Totally recommended.
