I'm guessing many of us have heard this Jim Jones recording.  If you're interested in cults and whackadoo personalities, Die or DIY? has been on a roll as of late.  I used to look for these records, but they weren't easy to find.

I will check this out - very interesting. I found this LP last year and it's a gas. Seems it's not something that meets discogs standards....

my ex-girlfriend's mom was in that church universal and triumphant up until they got busted with all those guns in '89. "invocation against rock music" is a real party-killer

from the back of the lp: This praising of God is the essence of JOURNEY TO THE LORD OF POWER, the sacred music of the Halveti-Jerrahi Order of Dervishes from Istanbul and their spiritual leader, al-Hajj Sheikh Muzaffereddin Halveti al-Jerrahi, bearers of the Sufi mystic tradition.

JOURNEY TO THE LORDS OF POWER is the first complete recording of the religious ritual
dhikr (Remembrance of God) whose goal is the perfection of the individual and his mystical union with God...

Excellent selection of cult music and true crime stuff, all on cassette (and cheap)

A year ago I stumbled into a garage sale and found a small box of tapes that were recordings of sermons from some church in Atlanta, Georgia; bought them all for $2 just to see what was up. Popped one into my player and there was an English sermon that eventually became very radical (loud shouting preacher, congregation speaking in tongues, etc.). Wish I had the time to rip them and put it online.

Hoping to sample some of it for a project i'm (slowly) working on.

I should have at least 50-70 lps of various christian stuff. Started out searching for samples, getting records of sermons etc to use etc. But it is also something special to hear borderline fanatical people making bad music to spread a message. Sometimes i can listen to this stuff the whole day. I try to get only records in my native tongue. Tapes also of course, came across a lot of good stuff last year. Seems like they finally are moving away from tapes in the outskirts.
