good, cheap sound capture devices for field recordings

I'm looking for either hardware or apps under 20 bucks i can use for field record ings

if you use an iphone or android you could use the app irig microphone, it costs around 6€ and it's perfect.
Otherwise i've found some handheld cassette recorders at 5 € on ebay

The Soundcloud app is free - however it requires a decent data plan for it to work, as it stores audio directly to your soundcloud account.
