"... a sort of evolving, quasi-fictional depiction of rural Finland and the far north of Scandinavia - romanticized, orientalized, exaggerated, stereotypical - but also internalized and celebrated. Alcohol, latent violence, rural isolation, punitive and rigid religiosity. A continuation of "Klassförakt," but leaving the city as well as any actual contempt behind. Something between a study of, and a tribute to, ways of life and behaviors which rarely are studied, let alone paid tribute to."
