TSVG Dying Batt pedal

Has anyone had any experience with the TSVC Dying Batt pedal? On paper it seems like a nice idea ("spit, sputter and decay"), but the demos make it sound too much like a tinny scooped fuzz. Seems it's just another fuzz pedal among many others. Fair amount of them have some kind of a power starve function so you're not actually getting anything "new" or "special". I suggest finding another clone of the standard fuzz factory or other pedals in that ball park. Otherwise there's plenty of options when it comes to power starving any pedal you may already have. Starve your distortion effects and see what it does before investing into another piece of gear.

Good point, thanks mate. Someone's offered it for a trade so it would be easily had, but it would be saying goodbye to an MXR Blue Box which I'm more likely to keep.

Anyone used specific power starve units, like this for example? Feel like I could do a lot with this but specifically I want to use it on vocals, anyone ever tried that? Going for a specific, grainy/decayed sound I haven't quite acheived with just tape. Not necessarily asking about this one but power starve in general.

There are some fuzz pedals out there that achieve the voltage starve idea quite well (Fuzz Factory for example), but when I started to get into electronics, I did build one, and tested it out with a cheap overdrive pedal. I was able to get the sound you mentioned, although some oscillations came with it. My memory could be a bit off the mark what it actually sounded like though. That being said, results would vary when using it with any other distortion pedals / etc.
