michael idehall, single-handed inventor of the seancetronica genre, presents a
release significantly out of his usual range of sound: no vocals, no song
structures, no rhythms (strictly speaking), just 'stoft', swedish for basic
materials. this material is culled from the archive of idehall's creative
process of sound design, which yields a mass of sketches and basic tracks that
never make it on the final compositions, but you too will find it worthwhile to
consider these sounds as such.
far from the majestic grandeur of regular idehall releases, these nine untitled
tracks are raw, unpretentious and straight-up. sometimes calm and soothing,
sometimes abrasive and noisy, the result is an actual album clocking in just
under an hour, with a distinct identity and storyline, on account of a quality
producer.
please note that the mixes used for the tape version differ from the digital
ones, making this even more challenging for the discerning listener and sound
aficionado.
