You can still find plenty of cheap gems on the Self Abuse site!

Yes indeed! Prices are always good and Patrick's always been great to buy stuff from. Definitely some gems within the distro!

Way back in the Before Discogs Time, I don't know how many years I spent ordering from Self Abuse, including some Skin Crime stuff, before I made the connection that Self Abuse and Skin Crime were pretty much one and the same. I don't even remember how it was I found out, but it shows the kind of mystique that a resource like Discogs, for all its uses, took away in some respects. Hell, never having seen a SC live show back then or any of the videos they were on, I had no idea what the guy even looked like until I got the Hospital box! That kind of lack of a cult of personality is certainly something refreshing about a lot of noise artists.

Yeah, there are certainly some cheesy artworks on some releases, especially the Solipsism CDRs (but I think that was deliberate to keep them as low cost as possible), but there's also some pretty classic ones. Eyestrain and Intensive Care would be cliche nowadays, but they were perfect for conveying that vibe and scene of 90s noise. I've always felt the Wired Trap artwork really fit the sound it presented. The original Murder Series issues...nuff said.
