Direct feedback to artists/publishers

I try to reach out to artists when I really dig their works and it's possible and in some cases it turns into a decent friendship. I've only had it end poorly in the case of one artist to the point I ended up selling everything I had with his name on it. But I think it's worth telling the artist when they do something great, there's a lot of gold out there and it seems to go unnoticed a lot of the time.

I do find this easier with smaller artists and creative types who are reachable without having some kind of complex about how they wish to be perceived on social media. But I agree with this and the other responses in this thread, showing genuine support for another's work costs nothing.
